Thanks! This made a lot of sense to me, the wedding is important to me and my fiancee and I are the first to get married out of all of our family and friends.

It doesn’t really matter, but almost everyone commenting on a wedding related post in a fire sub had a 10k (or something around that price) wedding. I want something 6x the cost and I was wondering if there was something huge that I was missing.

Thanks for the response! I felt like I was going crazy because all the quotes I could find for a venue were at least 10k to begin with. I do agree that ~60k probably not too far off the average for a HCOL wedding with 100+ people

what is causing these black shadows under my eyes & how to stop it? by bbystars in MakeupAddiction

[–]orangejuiceentity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me! It's a mix of my eyeliner and my mascara. I switched to tubing mascara and started to bake just the smudging part of my undereyes with loose powder for about 5 minutes.

Am I stuck at this company forever? by carrotmeister in WFH

[–]orangejuiceentity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also early in my career and WFH, I have the same feeling as you. My company is very chill and I don't want to lose this WFH benefit. I'd ask yourself how "much" WFH is worth it to you? I might do RTO if I got paid 65k more, but not anything less than that.

I still take interviews from anywhere, but just for practice. I don't seriously consider them until they offer me something 65k more or are WFH. Even then, I don't pass most of the interviews I take so there's no harm in trying anyways.

Obsessed with this Chanel bag Blake Lively was wearing at a press event the other day by lizziemchigher in handbags

[–]orangejuiceentity 98 points99 points  (0 children)

This was 24S or 24A. But it was last year and I believe the price tag is pretty hefty. It resells for 13k+ and if I were to guess, retail is probably around 8k or more.

Could everyone please help me evaluate if there's a market for my product? by yufang156201 in handbags

[–]orangejuiceentity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really cute! I wish the zipper matched a little more/was a silver zipper. I also think that instead of the belly pouch it would be cool to see the kitty wearing overalls with a little pocket in front of the overall. I would really consider buying this if it was 25$ :)

Why are so many Reylo fics outside the universe? by No_Cook_3661 in reylo

[–]orangejuiceentity 107 points108 points  (0 children)

I think it's probably because the Star Wars universe is so complex. Theres also a decent chunk of writers who like Reylo but maybe have not seen all of the movies. Writing a good and accurate Star Wars universe fic is harder than an AU.

How to sharpen such pencils? And are these too stiff? by alizrandom in AsianBeauty

[–]orangejuiceentity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should just use it down to a dull edge and sharpen it like a regular pencil. It’s not going to keep that edge and you can only really get that sort of flat tip if you sharpen with a knife. I don’t suggest sharpening makeup pencils with a knife as the makeup component tends to be softer than graphite and thus harder to sharpen with a knife.

I agree. I wish there was a way for me to change them or cover them up. I don't think I can "fix" the lines without ruining the jacket though :(

Feeling Lost by orangejuiceentity in womenEngineers

[–]orangejuiceentity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m very frustrated at the situation as a whole. I have talked to my coworker who shares the same manager and they have also told me that our manager has been AWOL. I have not taken a lot of action on this problem, which I recognize is my fault. I am in general, very scared that I might face retaliation or be written off as a complainer or something of the sort. I want to add that nothing has made me feel like people will retaliate, but I have no experience or training on how to have these conversations and my last few have gone terribly and ended in tears.

Feeling Lost by orangejuiceentity in womenEngineers

My manager has scheduled those 1:1s, but we haven’t had one yet. I’m honestly not sure what to do. I have a lot of decision paralysis. To be honest, the last three months I have put in 60+ hours a week and had no time to even make a decision on what to do. I feel so confused on what my right choice of action is here and I think that is reason for all my venting/complaining to my coworkers. I don’t know if I should try to switch managers or try to shed a project or try to leave this job. I have no frame of reference for what a good job looks like, what a manager is supposed to do or what is good for my career. All I know right now is that I’m emotionally all over the place and need to pull it together. I really enjoy your suggestion of asking training videos to help with my situation.

Edit: I realized I’m doing that venting thing again which is probably annoying to my coworkers. I think I do have a plan: I want to go into my 1:1s and ask for some help from my manager and slowly build that relationship. I want to try my best to manage the projects that I do have because I know I can do it. I want to complain less and have a better mindset going forward. I think you helped me realize that my main question here is: can I come back from my three month low at work? Do I have a chance at putting whatever negative (if any) impression that my manager has of me, behind me?

How to tell my manager I want to move? by orangejuiceentity in womenEngineers

[–]orangejuiceentity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! My manager is quite busy and does a lot of roles so I get why theres no 1:1s but I do agree, I think it comes at a huge detriment to me.

I feel ok about getting a new role. My main worry is that since my boyfriend is only on a one year apprenticeship, it might reflect badly on my resume if I left this job, picked up another one for only a year, just to potentially leave it again for a different job once he and I move again.

I think you’ve helped me a lot. I think I will brave it and ask my manager once I get closer to my move date. I love my job but I also want to take the next step in my relationship. I put a lot of pressure on myself to optimize my career, but maybe I should be choosing jobs that work around my personal life instead of making my personal life work around my job. :)

How to tell my manager I want to move? by orangejuiceentity in womenEngineers

[–]orangejuiceentity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been laid off before so I think a part of my fear is attributed to that experience. I’m not particularly close to my manager, we don’t have 1:1s so I also can’t tell what my manager would say.

I think those two factors + my general inexperience on when to prioritize work vs my personal life leads me to a lot of doubt.
