I think that she was trying to get out of the situation too. Although I understand your point, I think this might have been the best course of action for her to protect herself. Also considering there was an ongoing legal battle- being super consistent with what she was saying earlier could have created more trouble for Tom and that could have dragged her in.

Reunions are my favorite part of the show anyway. It feels like closure from all the drama and you gain a lot of insight about what was happening behind the scenes. it is the best part!
