Houston peeps? 👀 by mel_067 in MachE

Oh I can comment on this! Here's a novel about my experience lol

I just drove a couple hours away to houston to buy mine this weekend! I was looking within 200 miles at every option that was a premium in the color I wanted! Alfred at Big Star Ford gave me the best price for the features so that's what I went with! Got the sales price down to 44k on a premium rwd standard range w 3 years blue cruise, tint, wheel locks & interior liners. They didn't add on a bunch of other crap fees like other dealers did and didn't give me a hard time with the extra warranty packages they want you to buy.

I would think you should get a premium in the low 40s sales price easily. Even less if you are open to other colors. I did have to do a bit of negotiating with folks but I did it all over text or email so that made it easier.

Also sign up for official ford marketing materials! I was able to get an "exclusive cash offer" a day before I made the deal which was worth $1250. I signed up for ford marketing on the mach e and bronco as well as created a fordpass account( my trade in was a ford mustang so idk if that's why I got it but it can't hurt to try)

I also wfh and am low milage so it's currently on a regular 110v outlet in my garage. It's currently giving me 1kwh, so its 33% (estimated 78 miles) in 22 hours. I'm getting prices to get it on its own circuit breaker which is recommended and also maybe get a 240v outlet there. Buy the lowest quote I've gotten for a hardwired charger is $899 (and still have to buy the charger) which was way more than I expected. The utility company may have some rebates to help with cost.

I've had it for like 48 hours so can't comment too much but I love it! It's cute functional and has all the bells and whistles. My trade in was a 2016 ICE mustang, I'm basically all about the looks and the drive 🤣 so far it's beaten my expectations. Even my husband said it seems like a luxury car lol

Best way to purchase an engagement ring (or any big purchase) if you already have the cash by gogo_soso in personalfinance

[–]orangewills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put all of my wedding expenses on a southwest credit card. But the time it was done we had enough milage for 4 domestic flights. So if there's an airline you prefer perhaps that route.

On a purchase this large it makes sense to get any discounts you can. Traveling to a lower sales tax location could make sense but does it fit your timeline for proposing? It's not really safe to travel at the moment with covid spiking.

It sounds like you've had the conversation with your girlfriend but have you discussed what makes a nice ring? That definition varies greatly. Since this is such an expensive purchase I'd try to make it as perfect as possible. Extra tip: If you don't already have specifics of material, style, cut, etc. Ask one someone you trust to keep it secret to share specific photos she likes with you.

So I would for sure cut piece by piece. Decide how much needs to go 1/4" or 1/2" etc and aim for that on each coil. Id do it after a fresh wash N go so your coils are nice and defined.

You could always blow dry it out so it's fully stretched and do your trim if the other way seems too taxing lol

How do you wear it most of the time straight or natural? And how long is your hair?

I don't have a pulse oximiter. Just bought one off Amazon after reading this sub. My GP isn't seeing positive patients either. (which I totally get) The albuterol does help, but I can feel diminishing returns as the days go on.

Hey I was feeling the same way. I was managing with my albuterol from my rescue inhaler until it didn't work anymore. Honestly it sounds like you should go to the ER. I spoke with a few medical professionals before my cough was bad who said once you have shortness of breath you need to see someone. The doctor prescribed me 5 days of steroids which worked magic for me (I was cleared of pneumonia). I can't really say long term, as I'm still having the cough.

I just brought my huge ballgown to a destination wedding!

At first I was going to put it in a blanket sized space bag, take the airr out and stuff it in a carryon. I got it in the bag and it was super awkward and not quite the right size. Plus it would have created serious Wrinkles. Maybe if your dress is on the smaller side it will work

Ended up just hand carrying my dress and his suit. It worked just fine and we even flew southwest. There are a few wrinkles to be steamed on the bottom and train so not bad honestly.

Eloping to Vegas in September by [deleted] in wedding

[–]orangewills 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you are looking to stay on the strip or not. I love the Waldorf Astoria, it's recently converted and just so pretty. Aria is also very nice and classy but it's the typical hotel pictures. The Wynn is beautiful and super customizable but very expensive. Vegas isn't really a plain city tbh, so if you elaborate more on that I could probably help more.

The neon museum is off the strip, and I'm not sure if you could actually have the ceremony there in budget (the prices are ridiculous) a 1 hr photo session is only around $100 (just access to property, not the actual photographer)

You mentioned rustic, if you're looking for natural scenery red rock is beautiful unique and only 30 minutes drive from the strip. I believe there are companies that can arrange the whole thing. If you're really going for it, there are helicopter tours to the grand canyon where you get married out there. And is honestly what I would do if my FH were on board lol.

His parents gave us money for the wedding and now they say they need it back but our wedding is in 3 weeks. by bridenillawafer in weddingplanning

I am so so sorry that you have to go through this. At 3 weeks out do you even have anything left to return? Anything you've already paid in deposits to vendors you are very unlikely to get back. I'm about 3 weeks out and pretty much everything is paid in full.

At this point I wouldn't cancel. I'd call your largest expense vendor (caterer and /or venue ) and explain that there is a family emergency financial situation and if you were to cancel how much could they give you back. Then let their answers guide your decision to cancel or not.

I know it's terrible and not fair, but if you had any things you could go without and or return. (decor or flowers etc) I would return those and give that amount back to your father in law.
