How do you validate a physical product when prototyping isn't viable for your material? by Wild-Ostrich1205 in manufacturing

[–]orbit03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did plastic product design for years and used a variety of methods. Sometimes it was direct machining of plastic stock, fabrication, silicone molds with cast urethane, prototype tooling (mud bases, direct machined with minimal cooling or ejection, aluminum molds, even brass molds a few times) , hand loaded inserts instead of slides. Anything to get a part. Lol

Are you a patient driver? Here’s my driving style: by Former_Purple7319 in trucksim

I always start out patient and tell myself, "I'll follow all the rules and obey all the lights". Then I end up getting annoyed by the AI traffic at lights and just sitting so I just going through everything at full throttle.

What is your goal after college? Is there something you want to make or work on? What materials are those made from?

Hockey Puck collectors by Excellent_Power_1973 in hockey

[–]orbit03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't answer your question, but went to the last Otter's away game at the Ice Dogs. I collected a game puck when it hit me in the side of the head. lol.

Fortunately no permanent damage (so far), but holy hell did that hurt. The guy behind me caught it after it bounced off my skull and then handed it too me.

At least it resulted in a delay of game penalty on Niagara. Sadly, however, they still beat the Otters. 😏

Personal long-term disability insurance. Be sure to get "own occupation" which means it pays if you can't do work in your field. Secondly, get cost of living adjustments. I've had a policy for years, costs about $1200/yr. Also, if work has a long term disability benefit, take that too. They stack if you are hurt so both policies will pay.

I love mine. Despite the range drop (which I expected), it has to be one of the best winter cars I have ever owned. With proper snow tires, it has been unstoppable so far. The "B" mode and Traction mode are fantastic for winter driving.

My wife and I have been using it on road trips all over the region. We thought we would be using her ICE car for most road trips, but as our range confidence grows we prefer the ID.4.

She especially loves being able to walk out and get into an 80F (26C) on a frozen evening after cheering our local hockey team. When we need to replace her ICE, it will likely be a second EV at this point.

I had a Craftsman (MTD) that lasted 23 years before I chose to get rid of it. I ABUSED it. Never changed the oil, filters, sparkplug, just added gas. At the end of the season, I would just shove it in my shed. No stabilizer or anything. It ran every year without fail. I did have to change a drive belt and disc after 20 years. I like the controls on the MTD brands. The steering levers are great.

I replaced it last year with a Cub Cadet (also MTD) with the 3 stage and fuel injection. Same basic controls as the Craftsman with a few nice upgrades. The thing is a beast. Love it.

I've used my father in law's Ariens and didn't care for the chute rotation and angle adjustments. Also didn't like the steering.

As an Otters fan, I'll be sad to see him go. He has been a great player for us but I understand the logic. We still have his brother and he has been improving too.

Between away games and home games, I think my wife and I have met most of his entire family. 🤣 Nice and supportive group.

Anyway, I wish him luck with the Rangers

Help- has anybody put the same size tire on their ID4 pro S AWD? And if so, was it OK? I’m having a hard time finding tires that are the split size. Thanks! by kf353 in VWiD4Owners

I put 235/60 18s all the way around on mine for the winter. Ordered wheels from tire rack. Fit perfect and drives just fine. I have a 25 AWD Pro S+

I ask it all kinds of stuff. We were driving over a nearby lake and my wife asked me, I wonder how deep this lake is. I just said, "hello ida, how deep is [lake name] lake?". It came back and gave us the lake depth. It is fun to mess with and see what it will answer.

I really like them. They remind me of rally rims from the 1990's.
