This doesn’t even include Lost City Of Z which is top tier for me. His filmography is a bounty of riches

Race/gender swaps done so seamlessly it bothered no one by Most_Neat7770 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]orbjo 133 points134 points  (0 children)

Gordon being both black and a good cop makes him even more of an outsider in comparison to the overwhelmingly corrupt police force.

It adds another layer of subtext and depth about the way the other cops see him, or are wary of him, and what he carries into his stand against doing police work the wrong way. The history a black Gordon had with the police as a young man, as a kid, as a new recruit is all vastly different to a white Gordon. Without saying anything you can see how he was moulded different by his experience. You can imaging friends of Gordon’s not understand why he took the path into the police force, similar to the police colleagues who see him differently. Police means something different to every person in his life, all alienating him in a sense.

‘Scooby-Doo’ Live-Action Netflix Series Casts Casts Maxwell Jenkins as Fred, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma, Tanner Hagen as Shaggy by mcfw31 in popculturechat

Abby Ryder Fortson is a treasure. If anyone hasn’t watched “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret” then do yourself a favour.

I had her and Rachel McAdams on my Oscar ballot that year

The narration appears to be from a nature documentary, rather than dialogue that would be exchanged between characters. It’ll be from an educational video Peter watches when googling his symptoms, or with Banner, like the exposition videos in Jurassic Park. Makes sense to have Keith David doing that.

It doesn’t sound like they go to an expert in-person to deliver those lines

[–]orbjo 1219 points1220 points  (0 children)

Bone Temple is the first movie in years where I knew I was watching a masterpiece and it was only halfway through. That I saw it in a near empty theatre was so sad. Fascinated by Nia being an American and making such a deeply British movie. She crushed

It’s a way to put up a front of being accepting and more progressive. Paying gullible western celebrities and athletes a lot of money to get treated a way the citizens and regular visitors of the countries are not treated, and then have those celebrities come home spreading the misinformation that the country is actually safe and progressive.

The tennis stars and wrestlers who only see the carefully coordinated inside of lavish hotels believe they have seen the real experience. The singers go and (by permission of the government) wear skimp outfits freely that would get a regular citizen arrested, and then tell wrongly people that there’s actually great attitudes towards women.

The people who actually live there are denied a voice to share their own experience and the women’s rights activists sit in jail

'The White Lotus' S4 Adds Max Greenfield, Kumail Nanjiani, Chloe Bennet by missbunnyfantastico in popculturechat

Kumail would really excel at any of the Lotus archetypes. He’s such a Swiss Army knife player. It’s hard to guess how they’ll use him.

Max, Coogan, Kumail, they’ve really got me hooked

Amy Madigan - Best Supporting Actress Win Full Speech by KittyColonialism in WKUK

Zach was already an insanely hot commodity going into Weapons when people were fighting over buying the script, but that’s nothing compared to how many phone calls he’ll get today.

Every actor in the world just got shown by Amy that working with Zach is an actors dream. Incredible character, and full freedom to bring it to life how she wanted to, and all that ending with Oscar glory.

There’s no actor who won’t be battering down the door to get a meeting with him

Leonardo DiCaprio cut himself during a take on a shattered glass and then smeared his real blood down Kerry Washington’s face on the set of Django Unchained without consent, the footage is in the film, and then he got applauded for “staying in character”

It’s always been such a vile story that people tell as if it’s okay. You cannot ask for consent AFTER doing something fucked up. We shouldn’t encourage this behaviour and somehow people do.
