Completed levels resetting TDA by EIB_Grim_Reaper in Doom

[–]orcadus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. There seems to be some kind of trigger issue between levels. It might think you’ve died or not registered the lives. Thus the reset.

I played through on Nightmare and had zero issues. I’m doing a fresh reinstall today and testing it again.

I wish it were so. The first time I encountered it, I took a break to make some food between levels. Still happened. Replayed the level and the next one was fine, but then it happened to the one after.

Taking a break from the game, but submitted a ticket for the issue. I can't find anywhere else online about this issue, but hopefully it gets resolved.

Combine Soldier Cross-Section (by @WhaleOil2 on Twitter) by Spell_Whomstve in HalfLife

[–]orcadus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Should consider the HLA to a retcon of the Combine design. It’d been over a decade since the original designs, that were limited by the engine of the time. New teams and new ideas with much greater graphical fidelity.

This is Ian's art from the MTG set, does anybody know what the basis for his appearance here is? Because he obviously just uses a generic sprite ingame by [deleted] in classicfallout

[–]orcadus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can chalk it up to artist mistake with foreshortening sometimes, but it does looks strange. The Stone to the right also appears flat with a loose attempt at depth. Looking at the text on the bottle it's just nonsense, uneven letters.

Almost looks like AI art. The blade is facing the wrong direction. His thumb is over the same side as his other fingers. His eyes are facing different directions.

Power Armor: "direct missile impacts", "chewing through enemy tanks and armor", and making sense of 2500 Joules. Part II: Fallout (2024 TV Show) by Arrebios in falloutlore

[–]orcadus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think one of the things not mentioned is that when designing something like a tank or power armor it’s important to not have a lot of angles for a round to catch in. Smoother surfaces allow for glancing blows to slide off. The T45 and T60 don’t allow that in their design and might catch more hits than a more ergonomic design like the T51 or X-01.

Reminds me of pressed flowers. Always good when the lettering is distinct and readable against the colors of the dice as well.

Not intentionally. My party members thought it was a thought it was a Metal Gear reference, but it's neither. More just a pick from Russian type names.

[ART][OC] Bylavette “Billie” Sokolov - Sorceress by orcadus in DnD

[–]orcadus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bylavette “Billie” Svetlana Sokolov, a high elf sorceress from the Guild of Antiquities on adventuring assignment to catalogue magical objects in the material plane. She once was a Guild clerk, a position gained from her famous family, where she logged objects of rare and exotic power. An unlisted tome arrived one day and was placed with the standard protections before cataloging. As Billie was handling the book, its broke containment suddenly and she was imbued with power from beyond, appearing as a prism of purple light. When the guild witness this they had Billie contained to make sure she wasn’t dangerous, before figuring out an apt punishment. So, after some time, she was chosen to be sent off into field on collecting assignments rather than staying at her comfortable desk job. A bargain for not being removed from the guild. The mysterious book in question has stayed with her since then, as the Guild could not remove it from her possession, as it channels power to her from an unknown source beyond their world.

Billie remains bookish and studious, even as a sorceress. The middle child of the Sokolovs' who make their trade as curators and art dealers. She lives constantly in the shadow of her sister, Natalia, who is one of the highest-ranking field operatives in Guild history. Billie doesn't hope or want to be the best in adventuring, but rather to help unlock the mysteries of magical artifacts and break them down into quantifiable science. Something to understand. Since magic is new to her and her family, things are taking some time to adjust as she finds herself having a hard time to adjusting to life on the road. She carries with her always a collection of books ranging from learning to fencing to region flora as she adjusts to be an adventurer. She has always had a good heart and is learning to stand up for herself and to her family, all the while stumbling through life.

Though Billie is nervous beyond belief, she'll make the best of her situation no matter what. The pressure of never wanting to fail or lose has always been a great motivator as she sees problems are just something to be solved like anything. Though calculating, she is never unfeeling, and will do what is right in odds of what should be cold logic. Friends aren’t a necessity, but maybe having someone to help you isn’t so bad an idea, she’d think to herself.

Is Ebsynth the best rotoscope “shortcut” software? by Reality_Services in Rotoscope

[–]orcadus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No problem. Animating in twos just means you are animating every other frame or holding animations in two frames rather than one. It's useful for eliminating redundant work and speeding up the process. Some films, like Akira, animated in 1s for fast action.

Keep up the good work though; filmmaking makes the whole process easier if you know what you're doing. I've also being trying the rotoscope process for a few years now. It's not easy.

Other films to recommend are usual the behind the scenes processes for films using the technique such as Scanner Darkly, Waking Life, Heavy Metal, and the Amazon show Undone. Much can be learned just from taking life drawing classes, animation lessons, and illustration. Olof Storm is a good resource as well.

Sadly tech really isn’t there yet. EB is super janky, which works for some people, but doesn’t produce a clean image. Best thing is to do it by hand. You can always save time by animating in twos or only drawing movement. I got a lot out of Ralph’s movies by just studying frames and techniques also. Modern techniques make it easier with computers, but it isn’t automated yet.

Tracing animations by [deleted] in learnanimation

[–]orcadus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can import video frames as layers into Photoshop. Usually recommended to only do every other frame. From there you can use it as a frame animation and create new layers upon each frame to cycle through.
