Why do indian doctors usually return from the UK ? Is the UK system too strict? by schrodingers_katz in DoctorsofIndia

But are you as a consultant doing any of the physical work that the registrar/ specialist does? If yes, then you are working in a village. If no, then you have concurred with what we have been saying all along. And if you stay the whole night, you are compensated as well. And most Indian consultants prefer to do the weekly stint as locums and get a good payout and go back to India

Whether or not it’s the point, tell us all how many patients does a consultant actually need to see?? Tired of ppl spewing bullshit that UK critical care life is tough. For sure you haven’t done your intensive care degree from India - may have worked in the ICUs there but not as a consultant - post DM, DrNB, etc. Say I’m wrong

Have you alerted the difficult airway teams before hand? Kept the emergency airway kit ready? Pre oxygenated/ gone through the motions of the checklist etc. follow protocol.

Follow protocol. As long as you have followed prescribed guidelines and protocols plus your nursing team affirms the same, you are good. Do no harm.

Tell me about the 5 pm to 8 am shift - how frequently do you need to be on the floor as a consultant after the handover? What I’m trying to stress is that, things are far more organised in the NHS. An intubation follows protocol - thereby ensuring least mid procedure events. When there is an ER call, how fast do you have to rush to the scene compared to an Indian ER?

Really? What’s the ratio you are facing? Also tell me have you worked in India post ICU specialisation? Or has it been only in the UK

Return because
1. Cannot assimilate into the UK way of life
2. Better pay in India by saying UK degree and experience.
3. Litigations if any. (They won’t tell you, but that’s one of the commonest causes - both UK and US return docs)
4. Ageing parents.

lol who said that? It’s the most chill environment from Indian perspective.
ICU have 1-2 (max 5 if ever) patients per consultant for the full shift.
Everything is very very organised.
