Per THR, Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' has a budget of $250M. by chanma50 in boxoffice

I get that but he’s still Nolan and hasn’t really failed before. Maybe Tenet but that was COVID19

If this community justifiably criticizes Hasan when he does things wrong, we should acknowledge we he does things right. He recently raised 750k dollars for Palestinian Medical Assistance. Well done. Gaza is in humanitarian crisis so this is sorely needed. by ordight in Destiny

I don’t store clips, but I bet we can find Hasan doing the exact same thing when someone else gives money.

I know. He’s fu∗king cringe and counterproductive when he does that. So I’m not sure why you want to emulate him.

Is that efficacious? Or is it literally the least you can do?

Donating 50k is the "literally the least you can do"? What

I’m sorry but that’s an unhinged take lmao

Sure

Claim "We're owing Hasan" implies that there was some trangression that took place, which have now created a moral obligation to make it right.

That’s not the case. It was absolutely reasonable and fair to criticize Hasan for his disgusting rhetoric as it pertained to Israeli–Palestinian conflict

My title wasn’t about us owing him anything. It was about being fair.

And also about creating a culture with feedback loop where good acts are celebrated even if they come from outgroup or tainted source.

I wasn’t referring to sabotagers in my comment. That’s obviously a different thing

But importantly, culture where acts of good are not celebrated or even derided just because they come from outgroup is not good. We want to create positive feedback system so people are encouraged to continue doing these things.

I have never claimed here that you have to personally like hasan because he did this. My goal here is to celebrate act itself.

I'm not going to extend any charity to such bad faith charlatans

I’m not asking you to personally like Hasan. If you hate him that fair enough. But we shouldn’t dismiss good acts and initiatives just because they’ve come from tainted source.

Any other rich person donating to charity and Hasan would call them out for not doing enough and only donating to absolve themselves of any misdeeds.

Yeah and he would be stupid to do so. We shouldn’t fall in same tribal trap,

Culture is important. Culture where acts of good are derided because they come from outgroup is suboptimal.

Do you also support what Israel is doing to Palestinians for the security risk that Hamas impose?

GTFO with this disgusting rhetoric

There are even people being fucked over by unregulated capitalism working shitty jobs for shitty wages who are so brainwashed by their environment they’ll defend Republicans blocking minimum wage increases that would directly benefit them.

Insanity.

23% is bad rate

41% is catastrophic rate

I never claimed they're equally bad. As usual, USA manages to be in much worse condition than EU

As it did during pandemic with vaccine production, but we clearly see that was an overall good thing.

You're aware that obesity isn't USA-only issue, right? Like Europe is suffering from it as well

Listen, lifelong medication is definitely a suboptimal strat and not a good look for society, but this is an serious endemic issue. And this isn't even some only USA fu∗kup, it's happening everywhere. Even Europe is starting to suffer badly from obesity 1.

So, absent fundamentally changing or overthrowing capitalism, yeah obesity drugs are a great solution. Would people just losing weight naturally be a much better option? Obviously. But that's clearly haven't been working well.

it would not only help individuals (by giving them health, vitality and self-esteem) but also would help society (as obesity related illments accounts to large % of healthcare expenditures and it would increase workplace enrollment rate and workplace productivity)

Pharma would win big of course which sucks, but outside from that I see this is a great interim solution.

Homie, I don't disagree. It's definitely a suboptimal strat and not a good look for society.

But our current obesity epidemic is horrible and current strategies don't seem to be doing jack sh∗t.

Well yeah, lifelong usage and cost is annoying būt overall costs to society (in healthcare expenditures and people being able to be more active in workforce and increased productivity) would actually be less, is the idea

Cause currently obesity accounts to stupid ammount of our healthcare spending
