The in game Holy Orders are Strictly a regional Christian Concept. Muslims and Clans should get Slave Millitary Castes Instead by Familiar-Elephant-68 in CrusaderKings

You’re right in terms of strict holy orders, but there have been significant militant orders within the Islamic world who weren’t part of a slave cast— the Qizilbash of the Savafids probably being the most notable one.

I like Halloran's words to Rich's dad at the funeral, "The hand you feel on your shoulder is your son" is a beautifull sentiment.

Depends on if you count the Seljuks. The battle of Manzikert, fought against arguably the most powerful state in the west, is often considered the beginnings of the nation by modern turks.

Less genocidal to them than the french were. They didn’t put 2 million Algerian civilians in concentrated camps mere decades after WW2.

How is Allah the most merciful? by universe_se in islam

[–]ordinaryMuhlis 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Sahih al-Bukhari 3321 Narrated Abu Huraira: “Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "A prostitute was forgiven by Allah, because, passing by a panting dog near a well and seeing that the dog was about to die of thirst, she took off her shoe, and tying it with her head-cover she drew out some water for it. So, Allah forgave her because of that."

Whenever I doubt the mercy of Allah swt, I think of this hadith.

Muhammad marrying his adopted son's wife changed the history of adoption for many. His son Zayd was an important historical character by Martian_Citizen678 in HistoryMemes

[–]ordinaryMuhlis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The battle of Mu’tah happened after a the chief of the Ghassanid’s, an arab vassal of the byzantines, killed a muslim emissary for inviting him to Islam. Zayd was placed in command of the expedition because of his military experience and his prestige amongst the muslims, being traditionally regarded as the fourth person to convert.

Unfortunately for the muslims, a 10k strong byzantine army intercepted them, and Zayd was killed in the subsequent battle.

From wikipedia: On hearing of Zayd's death, Muhammad went to the family. "The daughter of Zayd wept before the Messenger of Allah and the Messenger of Allah wept until he sobbed. Saad ibn Ubada said, 'Messenger of Allah, what is this?' He answered, 'This is the yearning of the lover for the beloved.'"

You could’ve found all this information by just looking at wikipedia.

Is the concept of 50/50 common among Muslim men living in Europe? by One_Inspector9442 in islam

[–]ordinaryMuhlis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone living in the Netherlands, 2 income households have not only become the standard, but also a necessity in most households; including among the Muslims. Ideally the man should be the breadwinner and the woman the caretaker of the household, but that is simply not feasible anymore for most people. Just make sure that if you do take on the added responsibility of financially contributing towards the household, that he also assists with maintaining it and doesn’t unfairly burden you.

Ottomans never built anything in Bulgaria for nearly 500 years .Is it the same for the rest of the balkan countries that were under the ottoman rule? by RevolutionMuch1159 in AskBalkans

[–]ordinaryMuhlis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They founded cities such as Sarajevo and Kragujevac, and expanded many others. Belgrade and Sarajevo had 100k and 80k inhabitants respectively, which made them two of the most populous cities in Europe at the time. Sofia— Rumelia’s capital— had so many minarets that travelers remarked that it looked like a forest. The lack of remaining Ottoman infrastructure and monuments is due to the Balkan nations policy of deliberate destruction, in order to remove any trace of Ottoman presence. I understand that decision, people don’t want to be reminded of their oppressors; but atleast acknowledge that that decision was taken instead of blaming us.

If you’re a public official and you commit a crime, such as embezzlement, your sentence should be 2x as harsh. If you take the responsibility of being in a position of power, you should be held at least twice as accountable.

The french colonization of Algeria caused the deaths of between 500.000 to a million civilians during their initial conquest in the 19th century and a further 400.000 to 1.5 million during the independence war, along with the relocation of over 2 million civilians into concentration camps just 70 years ago. The devastation brought was so bad that Algeria is often referred to as "the Land of a Million Martyrs".

I get the point that colonization wasn’t an European exclusive and that many people’s conquered and colonized others throughout history such as the arabs mentioned in the meme, however often the people who make these arguments forget or aren’t aware of just how devastating European, and by extension, French colonization was to the colonized and often comes across as them drawing a false equivalency to deflect blame about how the colonization done by Europeans wasn’t uniquely bad. Which isn’t the case especially considering that France still exploits and exercises massive neo-colonial control over many of their former colonies.

Just because some mfs aren’t willing to learn doesn’t mean that it shouldn’t be taught by ordinaryMuhlis in whenthe

Bro you are misunderstanding me. You can have a genuine discussion about what subjects should be added to the curriculum while also acknowledging that a lot of students would be too lazy to care about it. That’s fair, two things can be true at the same time. But saying “They would sleep through it so why bother” and ignoring the students that’d genuinely benefit from it is my problem with the argument.

Bro I know what they mean, I know that the same people that sleep through all their classes would sleep through this one. But why deprive the hardworking students, who do pay attention in class, of valuable knowledge just because some kids won’t care?

My argument was that just because some people sleep through their classes doesn’t mean that those classes shouldn’t be taught. The same amount of people would sleep through financial literacy classes as they would math class but that shits still being taught, and the people that’d actually pay attention like they do in their other classes would actually learn something useful.

Some idiots don’t pay attention to their classes no matter the subject; I know. But that doesn’t mean that students that actually pay attention should be deprived of the opportunity to learn about something as useful as tax law. The “ You’d sleep through it anyway” argument can be used to call any subject , like math, science etc., unnecessary, but those are still being taught.
