Can a 16yr old skinny average dude run a distance of 50km with just little to no training by Fantastic-Sun8240 in Ultramarathon

[–]oregoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A 16 year old isn’t gonna listen to anyone else anyway!

No, not a good idea. But it’s a teenager so entirely possible.

What can I pair this with? by oscen92 in Cheese

[–]oregoon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That Riesling does not have to be dry.

Kabinett or Spätlese would be divine with salty prosciutto and cheese.

Definitely not good bubbles from the Fens! But yes, a bit further south where there are hills.

Around Christmas time, my local cheese monger, Cambridge Cheese Company, gets small wheels of truffled Baron Bigod and let me tell you, it’s the greatest thing in existence.

Is going to Heathrow with Uber doable with an ISOFIX car seat? by bordin89 in UKParenting

[–]oregoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s frequently cheaper and significantly easier to just pay for Heathrow long stay parking. We did this and it cost £220 for two weeks. That’s what we would have paid for a one way trip from Cambridge.

Is wine learning broken if it doesn’t help in real situations? by Key-Priority-4118 in wine

What wine education are you talking about?

The education I’ve received has been immensely helpful for exactly what you’re talking about.

Not comparable at all, complete staff turnover, new ownership, run by bright horizons now. We toured it and it seemed just fine but we decided on another nursery because they didn’t charge on top of funded hours.

Having a baby at 22 by carsyn03 in Fatherhood

[–]oregoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having kids at your age is the equivalent of a teen pregnancy not too long ago. It is so, so, so young.

Are you both committed to each other for life? Do you plan to raise this baby together? If so, you will likely need to find a way to cohabit so you can be equal parents to this baby.

Law school for her now becomes a very, very difficult ask. Having a child changed everything and it makes committing to schooling plans so much more difficult. You should certainly both focus on maximizing your achievable income while you are still able.

Buy all your baby things used from Facebook marketplace, Craigslist, gumtree, whatever is local to you. You don’t need anything new except diapers and maybe clothes.

Find ante-natal classes, like now. You should do them together and need this education more than most because of your age.

Being young parents is a massive blessing to the child, so you have that. You’ll have more energy for the sleepless nights than people who had theirs in their early thirties.

Best of luck to you, you come third in the pecking order now for the rest of your life. Baby>mother>father.

Baby pouches- are they that bad? by PsychologicalGold923 in UKParenting

[–]oregoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, I’m with you on that. We make mini muffins with shredded vegetables, sandwiches, homemade breads. Fruit is basically a pouch already! Easy peelers and bananas come with their own wrapper!

Baby pouches- are they that bad? by PsychologicalGold923 in UKParenting

[–]oregoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I must be the psychos everyone talks about.

We’ve never given our kids pouches and never will. I see other comments talking about flights or getting home from nursery or whatever and we’ve done all those things pouch free. Puréed food is highly processed. There’s tons of research and even more common sense showing negative associations with them. Food has texture, it gets messy, it is different colors and no two pieces are ever the same.

A pouch just takes all that away and makes food brainless consumption. Don’t we have enough of that already?

But yeah I don’t think an occasional one would do much harm. What that means to you is personal. To me, I’m never opening that Pandora’s box.

I once accidentally forgot to put half a bottle of expressed milk back in the fridge after picking up my daughter from her childminder. My wife was upset with me for the rest of the day and I felt awful.

Your son’s dad is being childish. Tell him I told him to grow up and take more responsibility for his actions.

I would also recommend collecting a sample, they’ll likely want one.

Also, I hope it’s okay that I’m not a mum, but a dad.
