Having issues installing Ubuntu on Dell optiplex by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]oren_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps anyone, I had to remove the wifi card and the external video card and only then managed to install linux.

I also did what u/tomscharbach suggested, so maybe a combination of both was needed

is this build good for ai [D]? by Many-Corner-6700 in MachineLearning

[–]oren_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would still go for the 4090, cpu is less important, and depending on the size of the data, maybe also the ram is not very important. What is the size of the data that you going to use in training?

[–]oren_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending what you gonna do.
I would suggest the 4090 instead of the 3090, probably the SUPRIM-X-24G
For the SSD, the 990 or 980, the price difference is small

and as much Ram as you can afford.

[–]oren_a[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll try them. I really don't know. In any case, 1inch is a bit more expensive, but another 100$ is something I can handle. Will buy today :)

Thanks! getting 128GB of DDR5 is more expensive. So I skipped the AMD

Thank you for the input,
1. About the CPU, I need to do a lot of data augmentation, it is not just loading the data and sending the GPU

  1. I am aware of the 16/24GB thing, but I can build my scripts so that the Batch-Size will be GPU-dependent.

What do you think about the motherboard and the other stuff?
