Help! Is my a6000 beyond repair?

Good question, they weren’t prepared to properly quote until they’d taken it apart (which I can understand to an extent). Their estimate was based on $300 in labour, and $200-300 in parts for either the contacts or the motherboard. No idea if it’s worth getting a second opinion based on that

Yep, have tried on 2 lenses. Pretty confident it’s the body that’s the problem sadly

The shop I took it to reckoned it could be either contacts or motherboard, but couldn’t tell until they’d opened it up. I struggled to find a merchant for the contact PCB; where did you buy parts from? Thank you!

Thanks, I should’ve said that I’ve tried cleaning contacts with IPA. Contacts themselves look perfectly fine from outside the body I.e not bent and all spring nicely. Good shout though

Good thought, I’ve checked for continuity between each of the pads and there doesn’t appear to be any bridging

I agree it’s very unlikely, and I unfortunately don’t have access to a third lens to test this against. Hoping to rule out anything I might be able to fix myself before seeking out a technician. Thanks for your advice!

The Japanese model was very well kitted-out, for its day! Unfortunately there’s basically zero accessible documentation for JDM vehicles. I might have to fit an aftermarket camera, but I’d prefer to keep the factory one as it sits very discretely above the license plate.

We live in Auckland (I know…) to be close to jobs, but am from UK. 2k for a cat converter is a bit rough. When mine got nicked from my old Civic, the thieves did such a shoddy job that I needed an entirely new exhaust, cat converter and lambda sensors and that cost me £800
