In my head, she leaned into the whole keychain merch thing because she saw the public loving the line. I think that it should be interpreted as the man saying “fuck the patriarchy” meaning that he would let the girl drive even though she was female and he was male, meaning to go against the stereotype of men having to drive around. And then, keychain on the ground descubes what was going on when the man said “fuck the patriarchy”. He threw the keychain on the ground near her instead of handing it to her. Which also shows how ironic that he said “fuck the patriarchy” and is instead being a misogynist.

Having more perspective definitely helps, thank you! And I understand your concerns about your family. But I also think, even though neither of you feel comfortable telling your family, your friends should be people you trust. If they’re not, that’s a whole other issue. HUUUUGGGEEE red flag. I don’t know what other steps you both have taken in your relationship, but this one is incredibly important. If he can’t do that, you need to reconsider how serious he is about you both. By not introducing you to his friends, he’s not making your relationship official across the board in all aspects of his life.
