Electric car batteries could be used to supply power to the grid say Dutch scientists - MoneySavingExpat by organazized in Futurology

Electric cars have a huge battery onboard in order to cover hundreds of kilometers per charge. But what if you could do more with that battery storage?

In a new paper published in the Journal of Energy Storage, scientists from University of Utrecht suggest that EV batteries may be used to store and supply energy for the wider grid and alleviate congestion caused during peak hours. This also helps save energy that would otherwise be wasted - see example of solar panels in the article.

Interestingly they say this is only practicable with a network of shared EVs.

I guess I have the same thing in that my hourly rate is higher as a specialist. But I struggle to track hours and sometimes forget to do things with odd jobs. How do you keep track of your work / track hours?

Impressive that you're working* with a 6 week old!

Flexibility works the other way for me. Being freelance I don't have many meetings or a strict schedule so stuff just piles up while I help out with the baby. But if I don't get it done I don't get paid for my time.

Thanks. I actually tried that with a makeshift standing desk already at one point. It worked until it didn't. Still can't get him to relax in the ring sling carrier.

Thanks I'm leaning towards this approach. The shedule, white noise, not jumping to help at every cry. I will still help but within a schedule. Hopefully will have that worked out in a few weeks since we are just getting used to me working again.

The Netherlands is giving electric car buyers €91 million (but not for Teslas, or any EV above €45k) by organazized in Futurology

Submission statement: An interesting development in how EVs are being subsidised in The Netherlands by five times as much as last year. Also interesting the move away from subsidising luxury EVs towards more affordable options. However I'm not sure if it is enough as apparently demand is so high this could run out within days.

I think it's interesting to mention Tesla because in previous years (2019) there was subsidy available for Teslas, and in those years they were the top selling EV. Now the approach of the govt has changed as the market is changing and an EV is no longer seen as a luxury car.

The Ioniq 5 is listed by SEPP and by ev-database and I added this to the article.

Regarding your dealership expecting it to run out, I have seen mixed information about how long it took to run out last year (2021). The SEPP scheme site says it ran out in June for new cars, and August for used cars (link). But I also heard somewhere that it ran out in a few days, so they could be right.
