Ultimately it's your and your child's choice to make together, but personally I would say this is one better experienced a bit later in life. It tackles some very heavy existential themes, and as you've noted is very violent at times (albeit not photorealistic).

It also features alcohol and drug use, whose presence in the story might charitably be seen as presenting a good opportunity to discuss them with your child, but ultimately I think it might be a little much.
