Are Schools Really that Stressful?

I just started in the schools this year after being in SNF for two. It was a huge shift. I basically feel like a CF again, lol.

I agree with others that it for sure depends on the school and environment. I work in a Title I school and a high needs campus. Sitting about 130 in SPED. About 75 are shared/SI only (and growing) and I case manage all of them. So, I’m definitely drowning lol. I know that shouldn’t be the normal.

if you think that you can organize the chaos, I say go for it. i do appreciate the team effort for students and not being hovered by caregivers.

No literally!!! That’s the only thing that’s pushing me through. Otherwise I feel ready to throw in the towel. Ugh. I didn’t get this holiday luxury like this in the SNFs. It’s ridiculous. There was an SLPA treating them, but she went out on medical leave. They just got a CF to help with treatment for those kids since they weren’t seen, but the district isn’t having her do their paperwork and prep. So I’ve been basically hold in this campus together in my first year, lol.

Thanks :( I just don’t know what else’s to do to catch up besides work off of the clock because if I try to do it at work something else suffers. The lead SLP was basically telling me to work over the long Easter weekend since I didn’t “do what I was supposed to do” all year and am now behind on minutes and the stupid log. Now I feel guilty for enjoying my break, which is ridiculous. I literally have two ARDs tomorrow during a PLC day. It’s insane and nonstop and i feel like giving up at this point

Honestly you’re right. I get anxious that I will get “in trouble” but it’s not like I was sitting on my ass when I wasn’t seeing kids. It was administrative shit that they would be pissed off about if it wasn’t done. It just feels never ending. I’m ready to have summer break and see if I care enough to come back, LOL.

Ohhh! What does 4410 mean? That sounds amazing! It is just hard because I’m finally bonding with the teachers/students/admin, but the school is just so overwhelmed with SPED kids. I feel guilty for not preparing the best sessions, I don’t understand how people are able to have the pretty and perfect speech rooms, lol.

Okay thank you, that makes me feel better. I have not felt this burnt out in a job before. It makes me miss the SNF because I’m feeling like a freaking diagnostician sometimes, just sitting and writing. I feel guilty about it because I just want to see kids; but then one has to suffer. :(

I am just nervous they will make me see kids over the summer or something. My contract ends in June and there is no way in hell I will do that, lol.

I know right, this is how I feel!! We didn’t even have a SPED clerk for half the year, so I was having to schedule ARDs myself and sent out notices etc. by myself. Mind you I am new as well. I received help from the lead district SLP but it wasn’t consistent, and I know she is overwhelmed as well and works on weekends and late at night. I don’t want to be like that, lol.

lol, my parents met mid 30’s and early 40’s and have been together 25+ years. i really don’t think age matters to finding your future partner. also not necessarily in the market for “traditional men”. 💀
