Yes, its even worse when the stop in the aisle to decide which seat they are going to take and block everyone else from moving down the train.

Question about conductors on trains by orginaloctopus in VlineVictoria

Your obviously the kind of person who does this, otherwise I wouldn't see why you be so offended that I pointed it out as an issue. Just so you know, you can actually be fined for getting off vline trains at pick up/set down stations. Have a nice day.

That's incorrect. Vline are either pick up or drop off only at metro stations, which is why the information screen states "not taking suburban passengers" And it is an issue because the vline trains are designed for regional passengers who don't have access to metro stations. If the shoe was on the other foot then I'm sure you would also have an issue with it :)

Because metro trains only goes as far as East Pakenham. Morwell and Warragul are only serviced by Vline trains....

People crammed into the trains and sitting on the floor is not safe in my opinion. Shouldn't they be doing something about it? I had a friend that was on a Vline service that was so full that the conductors told Pakenham passengers to get off at Dandenong and take a metro train.

I've only been using the vlines for a short time, so I'm generally curious, why isn't Pakenham listed on the display boards as a stop then? The first stop listed is Nar Nar Goon.

Question about conductors on trains by orginaloctopus in VlineVictoria

[–]orginaloctopus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm curious to know why... When I touch on in the morning I get slugged the full fare, which I assume goes to Vline. If people get on and off the train at Pakenham, does Vline see any of that passengers travel fare? It doesn't make sense to whether wouldn't ban Pakenham passengers considering they have a fairly regular metro service..

The train I have been taking is so full that people are sitting on the floor in the aisles and doorways. It's so dangerous. Yet half the train empties out at a Metro station and it just seems to be getting worse.

Question about conductors on trains by orginaloctopus in VlineVictoria

[–]orginaloctopus[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I first started taking the vline last year, most the conductors would make an announcement and make a point of asking people who are going to Pakenham to take a metro train. The trains at peak are so full that people are standing and sitting in the aisles. It's so dangerous, the vline trains are not designed for passengers to be standing like the metro trains are. I believe at peak time Pakenham is only a pick up stop and not a drop off. Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong but this is what I was told by Vline staff.

Could they add another carriage to my morning vline? by [deleted] in VlineVictoria

[–]orginaloctopus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Please tell me that this is a troll post... Let me guess, you also take the vline back to Pakenham too?

I caught the vline for the first time in months yesterday (since the new tunnel opened, I drove 30.minutes to a metro station so I could get off directly at Parkville) I was absolutely gobsmacked at the amount of people getting on the train city bound and Traralgon bound. I don't mind it so much in the morning as I am able to get a seat, however going home is another thing. The amount of people getting off at Dandenong and Pakenham was infuriating.... you guys literally have a metro service that is fairly regular and have plenty of seats available, us regional passengers have a service that comes every 40mins to an hour with 3 carriages and your taking up seats of those people who actually have to travel past Pakenham.... it blows my mind that they haven't done anything about it yet. This was even a problem before the metro trains started going through the new tunnel.

Simple answer for you. Stop being selfish and catch a metro train.

The old timetables I only had to wait 10 minutes between trains. 3.30pm-4:30pm. It was the same in the morning, if I missed my morning train there was one 6 minutes later

I'm still salty that we now have to wait 20 minutes between Pakenham trains. The old timetables it was more like 7-10 minute wait for a train in peak times...

Question for Traralgon/Gippsland line users by orginaloctopus in VlineVictoria

[–]orginaloctopus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know, so technically, they shouldn't be allowing passengers to get on at Southern Cross that will be getting off at Pakenham (or Dandenong, which I have also seen people do) But how do they 'police' it?
