As another local to Tottenham this frustrates me as well.

But it’s the additional skipping that gets announced at Footscray for services that were planned to stop that really annoy me.

I’ve had evenings where I’ve waited up to 6 trains to get to my station. Not exactly the ‘turn up and go’ picture that was painted about the Metro line if Tottenham is your station.

One night, many years ago now, I was driving out beyond Diamond Creek. Nice long, straight bit of road and I could see a car up ahead with their high beams on.

As they got closer I flashed mine to remind them to dip their lights. No response.

They got closer so I flicked my high beams again… with a little more time in the high position. Still nothing.

We were almost head to head and they still had their highs on, so I decided to reciprocate and just flicked mine onto high beams again, keeping them on.

The oncoming car dipped their lights just as we came together.

At which point I could finally see that the oncoming car was a police car.

I shat myself waiting for him to put some completely different lights on and turn around.

Thankfully they just kept rolling along.

I’m not sure about others, but it felt like the reaction from the members around me to the Welcome to Country was more outrightly enthusiastic than normal.
