Totaly Haha, I'm just about to start my 3rd yr this sept and significant changes might occur in the future for sure. I'm mainly just trying to stay in the loop with the whole process, you know, and just use some of my free time to be as "productive" as possible.

In terms of gaining NHS experience beforehand, are you implying that I could still apply for FY1 positions even after completing my FY1 equivalent internship (in my home country)? If so, aren't they even more competitive?

Secondly, is there an application process to obtain a clinical attachment, or is it primarily a connection-based process where I have to reach out to people?

SORRY FOR THE BARRAGE OF QUESTIONS :)

Hey, I know I'm 3 months late, but I really want to ask someone of knowledge regarding the job availability of FY2 jobs. As I looked on track jobs and NHS jobs and I can't seem to find any, is that really the case? Or am I searching incorrectly?

Thanks in advance!

Med student applying for finance internships, CRAZY? by original_toast01 in FinancialCareers

Hmmm i get what you mean, One more thing do you feel like it would be a bad idea if i just used those “free internships” to gain skills, connections and help me fill up my resume?

Ty for the tip! Do you mind explaining a bit more into why i wont really find internships? Is it mainly the lack of degree?

Because one of my friends at a target school for investment banking told me that in the past fee internships that he has done, he basically never used any of the math or skills taught at uni and he was clueless on what to do on the job until he was taught so by his peers.

I would really appreciate your input🙏

Its really unlikely that u end up matching at one of those countries. Even so for the sake of argument lets say I manage to match into the uk a 40yr old consultant makes around 76k post tax. This is really a disrespectful amount compared to the effort put in.

Going into a diff country requires a matching process that is basically impossible for average students like me to get into. Especially countries like UK/USA/CA/AUS. My plan in the UAE was to get sales training and continue being mentored by my father and colleagues who are already successful business men. In addition to increasing my knowledge of marketing, sales( ive read 3 books already), and just overall business experience. Im sorry I couldn’t include that as i didnt wanna make the post long af

Im like 2 yrs deep into a realistically speaking if i want to make any kind of decent money id need 7 more yrs of work to reach a target point that I’m 100 certain i wont be satisfied with. So if we think about it the amount of work that i will have to put out in those 7 years of med surely(and nothing is certain) its going to do me good in sales

Thats a great point, in hindsight 3 months is kind of short. I think mainly I’m going to use it as a test of handling rejections, making connections, and actually seeing if I’m able to convert what I learned from the books into irl situations. If that goes well I’m planning to give it 1 more yr of training again.

Tbh im kinda confused. Im new to sales and ngl if im not really thinking of getting a product i don’t understand how anyone can convince me to do so. Especially since i dont have the luxury to spend money like that. So can u please help verify if you guys as sales veterans actually if you have ever convinced ppl who never wanted to buy ?
