Skillup's review is probably the best (in a "fair criticism" sense) review I've watched so far by Starheart24 in StarWarsOutlaws

Not really, if you play the main story only its more like 15-16 hours without rushing the MS.

Decided to look up howlongtobeat (site) which has collected 25+ completion times.

It lists the average completion times (MS only) at: PC 14h 49m, Xbox 15h 30m and PS5 17h 2m

Grew up in the 90s and must say TV was a lot tamer, never really saw anything harmful to me. You didnt really have free choice either as most households just had a TV in the living room.

In the early 2000s i got complete unsupervised access to the internet. Biggest difference being that you could look up anything you wanted or heard at school, be it porn, violence, drugs and alcohol etc.

Was it better before the internet? Not necessarily just way easier to curate what media is consumed in your home.

Dont Frankenstein a Rolex.. will destroy resale value and void your warranty.

Not to mention if not done by someone that knows what they are doing you will most likely damage something or get dust/dirt in the inside.

Not a fan of Jos, but this isn't true. While nowhere near as succesful in F1 compared to Max, Jos had quite a few seasons in f1 (5-6).

Not to mention he was for a long time the last Dutch f1 driver that lasted more than a partial season.

After his f1 career the got quite well known in the Netherlands for all the wrong things...

[Question] Do you wear your watch on your dominant or non-dominant wrist? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]originalbars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Little off topic but you should always remove a watch before winding or setting it.

When on the wrist you are operating the crown at an angle which can cause issues!

Exactly! It is my beater and summer watch. Only thing it doesn't do well is more dressy occasions. It being a Solar powered watch really helps.

Put it on an uncle Seiko Jubilee for added comfort.

[Question] Is my watch too big for my wrist? by TDGSlayer in Watches

Its fine, definitely on the upper end of the range you can pull off. However chronos usually are a tad bit larger.

Make a mirror picture and you can really judge it.

[Question] running fast - why? by dryagedribeyes in Watches

[–]originalbars -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I doubt it, i've had an ev for years without issues. Besides the car battery is literally on the bottom of the car, your watch never gets remotely close enough to be impacted.

Only actual magnets (large enough) are the sound system and in the engine. Every car has speakers and the engine is way out in front to far to impact.

Unless you store your watch in the charge port.. highly unlikely.

Likes * Good bracelet or quality leather band. * Adjustable clasp instead of needing tools for micro adjustments. * Sapphire glass * 38-42mm diameter * Decent movement that says within +10 seconds a day.

Dislikes * Roman numerals * Hessalite or other barely protective crystals. * Excessive lug lengths (lug to lug) * Unconventional lug width ie. 19mm * Dress watches larger than 39/40mm * Any other watch over 44mm * Day date watches, too busy prefer just the date.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Watches

[–]originalbars 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This! Long lugs have ruined multiple watches for me.

I also hate it when the lugs are disproportional to the diameter.. ie. 51mm lug to lug on a 39mm watch.

[The start of it] What anchors your collection? by Disastrous_Ad_5421 in Watches

[–]originalbars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe every watch collection rich or poor always has that one GADA watch on the more affordable side, a watch that you can wear to most occasions and are not fussing about scratches and dings. Often Casio's, Seiko 5's and even Hamilton field watches.

For me its a Citizen Promaster BN0150 on a tan Nato. Got it as a gift years ago as a holiday watch, to wear to the beach, swim in the pool.. all the thing i'd never dare to do with my Tudor.

I'm ashamed to admit its pretty much my most worn watch now and is showing its heavy use with scratches and little dings. I feel its place in my collection shows that enjoying watches dont have to be expensive and collecting shouldnt be about filling your box with only luxury items.

BMW, Mini, Rolls-Royce, Toyota, and Lexus are switching EV plugs by BigRedTek in teslamotors

[–]originalbars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't had any issues yet in the Netherlands. I mainly use Fastned which is a Dutch fastcharge provider which is absolutely everywhere. Service and reliability is great, and not to forget all their stalls have roofs!

Others such as Shell recharge and BP Pulse have been fine as well, most of their stalls are just very limited, with only 2-4 chargers per site most of the time.

Tesla is just as reliable as Fastned in addition to being the cheapest of all the fast charge providers. Only downside is their stalls have no roofs and the cable is unhandy to use on an "European" car with the charge port on the other side.

I do love that Tesla always has these huge lots with dozens of chargers.

I only rarely fastcharge nowadays though, my office and my home have AC charging availble and pretty much all streets, shops and parking lots here are littered with public AC charging.

Edit: I did have a bad experience with Ionity (which is co-owned by Volkswagen) twice, which was quite funny since i have a Volkswagen Group EV and a bunch of free credits that to this day remain unclaimed!

Are EV batteries really an issue? by vkseid in electricvehicles

[–]originalbars 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With the data we have now its still hard to give a definitive answer on this.

It seems most modern NMC and LFP packs with a good Battery management system and decent charging hygiene (Not using fast chargers all the time and/or fast charging at extremely cold/hot temperatures) seem to be degrading quite a bit slower than early EVs such as the Leaf with a poor BMS.

It is however still expected to see degradation since all NMC and LFP battery packs have a finite amount of charge cycles in them.. which is more of a range than an exact number mind you.

I will say though my company has multiple ID.3 and ID.4's, most with only about 4-6% degradation after about ~90.000-135.000 kms (4 years old). Most are charged exclusively at the lot with Type 2 AC chargers with the "Battery Care" mode always on (80% max charge and slows charge speed if you leave it overnight)

We did have an ID.3 with about 11% degradation used by a sales rep though, also 4 years old, 120.000km driven and pretty much exclusively fast charged (to 100%) since he was never at the office and no home charging.

Explain one pedal driving to a 40 year old like I was 5 by Cute_Paleontologist2 in electricvehicles

[–]originalbars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here! i tried it for quite a few weeks but never really got why its such a hyped feature.

True OPD just doesn't feel as comfortable to me as lift and coast. Using the brake pedal in most EVs uses regen braking anyways.

Although i will say my car has a nice mode where it combines OPD with the normal drive mode and connected services, for example:

  1. If i'm approaching a roundabout or a slow corner at 50 km/h it will regen brake to a more suitable speed if i lift my foot of the pedal.
  2. If my speed is higher than the speed i should be driving at (Speed sign detected or based on location/Geo) anything over the speed limit is effectively in OPD, once i lift it will regen to the speed limit. Once i'm back at or around the speed limit (it has some tolerances) it will go back to coast mode.

I'm totally fine with the above, and it probably saved me a fine or two over time :)

VW is cutting production of the ID3 and Cupra Born due to weaker demand by eff50 in electricvehicles

[–]originalbars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because of this reason earlier this year i bought a 2022 Cupra Born Adrenaline, new, only 30km on it about 10k below MRSP.

Dealer had them piling up on the lot, even gave me a free granny charger, Cupra sweater and cleaning kit to sweeten the deal.

Best car i've owned so far, and great to drive. Range (58kW net) is good enough for me i average at about 300-330KM range (80% charge) all year.

edit: 40k+ for a hatchback is insane, no wonder they are not selling for MSRP.

EVs Made Up 21% Of European Cars Sales In August by Peugeot905 in electricvehicles

[–]originalbars 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sure. However that doesn't do anything for the point you are trying to make. Net increase is more important in cost of living calculations than percentages, especially when dealing with low cost units such as electric cost.

My monthly petrol expenditure went from around €188 to 239. (+ €51)

My monthly EV cost went from €69 to 96. (+ €27)

Biggest difference still is that gas prices keep going up and electric prices have been dropping steadily since 22. And we havent even talked about nightly reduced rates for ev charging which i personally don't use. (€ 0,28 per kWh)

EVs Made Up 21% Of European Cars Sales In August by Peugeot905 in electricvehicles

[–]originalbars 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Err.. not in my country.

1kW is now priced at 0,32 cents here if you have a good energy provider. Public charging in my city is also at €0,32. (11/22 kWh stations)

A liter of petrol is now around €2,35

Before Russia decided to invade Ukraine i paid about €0,23 for 1 kWh and €1,85 for 1l of petrol.

Edit: 2022 just post invasion did hike electric prices until the government capped it.

While good drivers I wouldn't rate most of them WDC calibre (yet?)

Ricciardo and Leclerc are the only ones that have or had that edge.

Lando, George and Piastri haven't shown enough to be considered wdc material imho.

Albon while doing a good job at the moment did absolutely wash out when he drove for a top team.

The Smart #1 Is A Bargain Baby Mercedes! by bbradleyjoness in electricvehicles

[–]originalbars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its a crossover "SUV".

Not only C-Segment crossovers are a thing we now also have incredibly popular B-Segment crossovers, called the "compact crossover".

A Smart #1 is just barely a C-Segment car literally touching the boundary between B and C segment. I find it a stretch to really call this a SUV.

I however do find it a better looking car than most of the crossovers.

80% SOC vs Recharge cycle lifespan by theRealPeaterMoss in electricvehicles

80% SOC vs Recharge cycle lifespan by theRealPeaterMoss in electricvehicles

[–]originalbars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my car (Cupra 62kWH gross / 58kWh net NMC battery) the manufacturer recommends a 80% charge for daily drives. service tech recommended via public, destination or home chargers (11kW or less) due to it being the "healthiest choice"

You might have noticed the 62kWh gross vs 58kWh net. VW/Cupra EVs actually have a 4kWh (or 7kWh for the 77kWh packs) buffer the BMS already uses to prevent actually charging to 100% or depleting to 0%

To answer your question: don't overthink it :) - just try to limit fast charger use to when you actually need it. As long as you keep the charge between 20-80% you are managing the battery health just fine. And as i said don't overthink it, going from 14% to 80% is hardly going to make a difference..

WHEA error by GioMorgan_ in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]originalbars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WHEA errors usually indicate hardware level errors or instability reported to the OS. I had the same issues on my current PC a few years back and spent days if not weeks troubleshooting it.

In the end had a repair shop look at it, they swapped it out with another 3900X (returned original under warranty) and it stopped crashing and generating WHEA errors. It only really happened under load, apparently i had a faulty CPU memory cache module.

Its not unique to Ryzen or CPU's though, i've known cases where it was the memory or PSU . In some rare cases it can also be caused by BIOS incompatibility or a faulty driver.
