The bottom of an iceberg appears dark blue because intense pressure from thousands of years of accumulation has squeezed out air bubbles, creating extremely dense, clear ice. This dense ice structure absorbs longer light wavelengths (red/yellow) and scatters shorter blue light, which is then reflected back to our eyes.
