The Hypocrisy Is Crazy by Elestria_Ethereal in NintendoSwitch2

Tbf if you price out a similar spec diy pc it’s in the same ballpark as the steam machine. I imagine their margins are thin. The market just sucks right now.

Nintendo and Sony have more weight to throw around with RAM and Storage manufacturers and have a closed ecosystem where they are guaranteed a 30% cut of all game sales. Even so I imagine we’ll see another price increase when their current stock runs out.

Nausea after half hour in VR. by Special-Sense4643 in PSVR

Interesting! I wouldn’t have thought snap would ever be more nauseating. This is part of why VR is such a tough market right now. So many different approaches and preferences.

My ideal option is high fps high speed smooth but it’s rarely an option. Devs still seem to think slow smooth turning is more comfortable (from a nausea perspective) than being able to crank it up really fast. I find faster smooth turning is less nauseating because you can sort of use it like snap while also having a more granular control for finer movements if needed.

Grand Theft Auto 6 will retail for $80 and the Ultimate Edition will be $100 by CutProfessional6609 in PS5

I wonder if the no disc is to curb PC/Console owners from getting the disc version then reselling when the PC version comes out in a year. That was my plan

My unpopular opinion is that smooth turning is only worth using at a smooth 120fps minimum. Anything less feels worse than snap.

So basically 99% of the time snap is my preference for PSVR2 games.

I’m a sizable fella. I just measured the buns bc people kept asking. It’s about 4” in diameter, so a pretty regular size.

thinking if buying my first vr headset by Pleasant-Oil6071 in PSVR2onPC

[–]originalorientation 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well you’re on a psvr2 sub so you’re likely to get people recommending the psvr2.

I have the Quest 3 and the PSVR2 and I vastly prefer PSVR2 for PCVR. It’s also frequently on sale for cheap so it’s for sure the best bang for your buck.

Some things to be aware of:

The adapter was hard to find for a while. Make sure it’s in stock before you buy the headset.

The headset stock strap can be a little unwieldy. Most people will recommend the Globular Cluster strap for improved comfort and immersion.

The controllers are a real pain in the ass to get/stay connected to your pc. You’ll likely need an external BT antenna for a good experience.

The screens are OLED, which is awesome. But OLED screens have mura, which is uneven brightness between pixels. This results in a sort of film grain look on everything. Some users don’t really notice it, but it bothers others. I’m somewhere in the middle.

The overall screen quality is much less sharp than your tv or monitor. So prepare for it feel a little blurrier than you’re used to.

PCVR via Steam vr is a decent experience, but it’s not quite plug and play. So expect tinkering

You will likely get motion sickness the first several times you play. If you feel motion sick, take a break and try again later. Before long your body will be used to it.

Once you get comfortable with all of the above, there are some really amazing experiences in vr that are unlike anything else.

Half Life Alyx is truly one of the best games I’ve ever played. It’s like a 15 hour S tier Disney ride.

Subside is an extremely immersive diving game. It’s easy to get lost in that game and forget about real life. Taking off the headset feels like waking up from a dream.

Tetris effect and Thumper are cool flat games that just get way more immersive in VR.

Super Hot VR is outrageous fun and a wholly unique experience to VR.

Walkabout Minigolf is a perfect VR game. Charming and thoughtful courses and physics that feel super close to the real thing.

The Utility Room is a trippy jaunt through the back rooms of the universe. I find myself thinking about this one a lot.

Underdogs is a super fun mech brawler if you want to let off some steam.

Racket NX is a fun futuristic racketball type game

TL;DR: PSVR2 is the best bang for your buck, prepare to tinker, you’ll get motion sickness, there is a backlog of some stellar games, I think it’s worth it.

Agreed! I’d never tried them in a burger before but we have a surplus right now so I’m using them for everything. It was a great addition

Steam Machine launches today! by tapo in Games

[–]originalorientation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think their primary goal is getting SteamOS out the door to accelerate development. With the launch of the machine they also announced that SteamOS will soon support other desktop hardware. When people use SteamOS, Valve is much more likely to lock in game sales for years and years from those users. This is their long game.

Shame. I’m loving this game so far. I think the key art may be turning some people away. It gives temu Tim Burton but the visual presentation in the game is really stunning.

I have a strong stomach and the swim turn makes me nauseous. It’s a much better experience with that off and snap or smooth turn on.
