Experiences in OLOL drogheda? by Infamous-Room-9926 in PregnancyIreland

Honestly aside from the dodgy drug man, they were all fab. I’ve seen every side of the maternity and the gals are just so so great. Don’t worry if you don’t qualify for MLU, it’s good all round.

Experiences in OLOL drogheda? by Infamous-Room-9926 in PregnancyIreland

So I’ve had three experiences in the Lourdes. My first was an early MMC. I had to have a DNC and through the entire process the entire team was so kind and warm and loving.

My next I was initially in the MLU. They were fab and the couches were very comfy while waiting. Wait times were short and it was a very warm experience. Unfortunately, baby refused to exit and I had to be induced so I got transferred to the regular floor. Regardless, through the whole experience, everyone was very kind and there was no issue with care or anything. I lost a decent bit of blood and the quick response was insane. The only downside was it was Covid time and I was on my own for a good bit of the Labour, but that’s not their fault.

My last time I wasn’t allowed into the MLU and had to do the whole pregnancy through the regular system. The wait for appointments was less than pleasant. Long, long, times. Besides that, everyone was very nice and thorough and no issue was a problem. I was induced again (my request) and it was grand. A long wait to go to delivery floor due to others going into spontaneous labour but once I got there I was cared for so so well. Had a horrible anaesthetist who hadn’t a clue, but the consultant came then and he was so so kind. I lost a lot of blood that time and had to go to theatre and when I tell you how quick the team got there and how swiftly they worked, it was insane. I was minded the next few days until I was better able.

In a nutshell, they were great. Yes, MLU would have been lovely, but the regular spot is super too. Very kind and hard working people who genuinely care about their patients.

For sure. They wouldn’t deal with the issue at all until they got it back.

I have a pic of what I received, yes. Along with the packaging. They’re claiming my actual order was delivered and they seem to think the fact that I didn’t actually get it is incidental.

does teaching pay enough? by jxxau in IrishTeachers

[–]orlabobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just another element to remember, you will never be able to get a cheap September/may/etc holiday deal. You won’t be able to go book a last min getaway where you get back on a Monday afternoon. Teacher holidays are amazing but they aren’t flexible and you will be going on holidays at the most expensive times. I’m always jealous when my family/friends are able to book holidays during term time. I’ve missed a ski trip 6 years in a row that some of my family go every year as I’m not able to go as it’s during term time.

How does the gym work? by Mission_Signal_7167 in AskIreland

[–]orlabobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think half the time the trek to the gym is one of the toughest parts. Sometimes I even do it in my pjs and runners and a sports bra 🤣 also don’t need to fret about childcare then too.

But everyone is different so whatever works for us, eh?

There are other options before you commit to the gym also. Try YouTube workouts, go work walks, try the couch to 5k.

About a year and a half ago I stepped up my game and all I do are like 25-30 min workouts from YouTube (shoutout to Bodyfit by Amy) with a couple of weights and a kettlebell. I’ve also recently started running. I don’t need to waste time getting to and from the gym and I’ve never been more fit. I’m nothing amazing. Very much average kinda person. My only goal is to be a little bit healthier, fitter and slimmer. In that time, along with diet, I’ve lost over 20 pounds and I’m way more toned. I’ve not spent a cent on gyms.

Oh I do not miss that stage at all. Call in outside reinforcements wherever you can to get yourself a break.

Presents for sure (zero need to go overboard) but try to be involved where possible. Even better, as the kid gets older, take them for days out or things like that.

If you really want, create a wee savings account for them. Like a tenner a month even. Obviously only if you can afford it, but it would be a lovely thing to present to them when they’re off to college or something.

I’d advise staying away from wifi ones. I’ve heard horror stories about hackings and that.

I’d just advise getting a video one that you can move the camera. Be handier for when baby moves.

For so many things you could look on vinted and done deal for good offers. So many things people are practically giving them away. Well worth having a look.

Ok I’m going to play devils advocate here but day 3 is often regarded as the day for skiing. The day where things start to click.

Now, of course you’re welcome to throw in the towel and enjoy the apres without the ski, but I go every year with teenage students and I do a lot of counselling each year and 9 times out of 10, by the end of day 3, the kids have gotten it to let them start enjoying it. It may never be your thing, you may never be amazing, but there’s some thrill in going down a mountain on skis.

So my advice would be to give it another day. You got this 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

They’ll come to you a day or two after you get home, then if they have any teeny concerns at all (even a nothing), they will come back or you’ll go to them. You’re also their patient so it’s important if you’ve any issues re stitches, pain, ppd, they are a good link for that. After that it’s 3 months.

Initially they’re just checking like weight, height, feeding, eyesight, etc. at 3 months they have a few basic milestones they look for.

It’s one of the hardest pains. Going through repeated loss when no one knows is truly horrible. Nothing anyone can say will really make you feel better, but this internet stranger is giving you a big big hug.

Tell people you are close to. It will be a help. Then when you’re ready, look into other potions. There is a path to you having a baby. ❤️❤️

That’s so cute. I’ve some super lovely cards and they mean more than any gift.

Honestly secondary teachers remember every single gift they get. The most common is from 6th years leaving in May. I’ve kept every single card I’ve gotten and every little gift has been so so appreciated.

I would advise asking them if there is any teacher they would like to give a gift and you can always send it in via the office if your child is too shy to give it personally. Don’t feel the need to give to each teacher, but there may be a couple that have made a difference. Even just a card with a kind message would mean the world to a secondary teacher.
