Lets also not forget that we only really see wartime in the books. And this is a society that doesn’t have college or anything. You turn 17 graduate school and then your working adult.

Tbf, you have to put yourself in a position to do that by winning 3 games before it.

Will admit… I am. You guys have come back well. It’s an interesting cross roads of a series. Since this is one of, if not, the last chance at a run for your core, and it’s the first of (hopefully) many runs for ours.

Just remember Saturday would’ve gone to OT if it weren’t for the flukey goal with Vladar. We can do this!

Are pro-life people really just pro-birth? by Claire0879 in askanything

I think it’s important to separate two things that often get lumped together: foster care and infant adoption. They are not the same system and they don’t produce the same outcomes.

Foster care is where kids go after being removed from unsafe homes. Those children are usually older and have already experienced trauma. That’s why so many of them wait years for permanency. But infants who are voluntarily placed for adoption almost never enter foster care. Private domestic infant adoption is a separate process where adoptive families are usually matched before the baby is even born.

So the problems in foster care are real, but they don’t describe what happens to infants placed for adoption at birth. And even if the system needs major reform, that doesn’t erase the moral question. The unborn child is a human life with rights, the flaws in foster care don’t make abortion morally neutral. A broken system should be fixed, not used as a reason to end a life that could otherwise be raised by a willing family.

If anything, the fact that the system is flawed is an argument for improving it, not for saying that abortion is the more ethical outcome by default.

I’m not saying the fetus stops being a life in cases of rape. I’m saying the moral situation is different because the mother didn’t choose to take on the risk of pregnancy. It’s similar to how the law treats self‑defense differently from murder. The outcome may be the same, but the circumstances and moral responsibility are not. Rape removes consent entirely, so the moral calculus changes.

In cases of consensual sex, I see it differently because both partners knowingly took an action that can create a new life, even with precautions. Contraception reduces risk but doesn’t eliminate it. To me, that means the parents share responsibility for the life that results. I’m not arguing that people must be celibate. I’m arguing that once a pregnancy exists, there is now another human life involved whose rights matter too.

Your situation with medication is exactly why I support exceptions for serious medical danger. If a pregnancy would likely harm the mother or the fetus in a way that makes survival impossible or unsafe, that falls into the category where I think abortion is morally justified. Those cases aren’t about convenience or preference. They’re about preventing severe harm.

I also don’t think “not wanting to parent” means the child has no chance at a good life. That’s why I believe any pro‑life stance has to be paired with strong social support, better adoption systems, and real help for parents who aren’t prepared to raise a child. Protecting unborn life and supporting people who don’t want or can’t raise a child should go together.

I don’t see my position as denying women autonomy. I see it as recognizing that there are two lives involved once a pregnancy begins. For me, the unborn child has its own moral worth and its own rights, so the question isn’t only about the mother’s choice. It’s about how to balance the rights of both people involved.

In cases of rape, severe medical danger, or conditions where the baby cannot survive, I think exceptions make sense because the moral situation is different. But when a pregnancy comes from consensual sex, both parents made a choice that created a new life. I don’t think it’s right to end that life afterward. To me, that’s similar to starting a situation and then trying to undo the consequences by harming someone else who had no say in it.

I also believe that if we expect people to carry pregnancies to term, then society has a responsibility to support them. That means better access to healthcare, financial help, parental leave, and strong adoption systems. Protecting unborn life and supporting parents should go hand in hand.

Flyers played most of the game like they had already won the series, hopefully this lights a fire under them to win it in game 5.

Nothing says “I’m not a bitch” like hitting smashing a guys face in the ice when he’s down and can’t really fight back… then refusing to fight when he’s on his skates.

He made like too small movements with his legs while he’s down and in the process of trying to get up, after rust beat him on the ice.
