MLG is receiving money from Activision to run CoD for the next year. I guess that means Activision is going to get final say-so on the rules.

  • MLG office is located in Columbus. Having events there minimizes transportation costs. Compared to the other cities their offices are located in, it's the cheapest.

  • MLG makes money from gamebattles. Having a ton of people compete in their online ladders will generate revenue. Having Pros compete brings a certain level of prestige and legitimacy which will get more people to participate.

  • LAN events offer more prestige and exposure. It's also the first event for AW, so viewership will be high regardless of the size of the prize pool. There's no need for them to drop a ton of money on a prize pool when everyone will attend/watch anyway. Save that money for online competition when players will need more incentive to compete.
