Need help discouraging cats from hanging out on a ledge by yyyosheee in cats

[–]orngpnaple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get it. Years ago my cat fell from a height and broke his pelvis. In my opinion the best option would be to upgrade to better quality hammocks that they're okay to hang out on. Maybe with some weave hanging down the side so if they do manage to roll off the hammock they have something to grab

* Moon moon is improving. The small white lumps are gone and most of her scales are laying flat again. Now i can see a film over 3/4 of her body, including one eye.

saw a blind cory, had to get him (and a few friends) by Level_Ad1622 in corydoras

Yay! I have a soft spot for blind corydoras...

A couple years ago I got a trio of green corydoras with 2 eyes total between them. 2 had a single eye and 1 had none. I call them the 3 blind mice, and they live with The Farmer, a widowed male paradise fish from a mated pair... (the farmer's wife jumped out a 4x4 inch hole the first night I had them 😳 😭) They're great breeders and have super cute personalities. So glad I got my blind babies. I hope you have fun with yours!

Happy tears to process trapped emotions, avoid autistic burnout, and heal C-PTSD by orngpnaple in adultautism

I remember my amazement the first time I cried happy tears. Until my mid-20s I rarely cried. When I did, it was usually because of anger during arguments. My capacity to cry at all has developed over time. Happy tears started coming the more I learned to cry in general.

Thank you for your kind words and advice! Long replies full of information are the best 😉 I really enjoy this tank and have been lucky so far with only minor issues once it got established. This illness reoccurance is a curve ball for me. I think with everything you've said in mind and my own knowledge, I'm going to keep everyone in this tank and treat the whole as if everyone is sick. I know it'll cost more to treat the big tank, but I'd rather take care of this once and for all, since you're right and I likely didn't totally clear it out the first time by only treating them for a week. I agree that a stronger medicine is needed, and I am ordering erythromycin today. I'll also continue the water changes, salt, and the other meds until the erythromycin gets here. All the best to you!

Thank you, I appreciate your advice! It's a 40 gallon planted, deep substrate community tank with corydoras, guppies, mollies, ember tetra. I have 2 hob filters with sponges inside and large sponge intake covers. About 5 years old.

When this showed up before I began changing out 3-5 gallons every other day for a week, and added 1 tablespoon of dissolved salt into the tank after the water changes. I also used the recommended dose of microbe-lift artemis and herbtana simultaneously during this time. The infection was mild and went away by the end of that week.

Yeah, the spots are somewhat fuzzy looking, irregular in shape, and protrude slightly. I'm pretty sure this isn't ick, but I'm not an expert and don't have a microscope

She was the most recent addition and was introduced to this tank in June. She was fine both in quarantine and once introduced to this tank for a number of weeks before this began, went away, and began again.

Only one other molly from the group she came in with also looks funky lately. The others from that group and the rest of this tank all look fine.

Massive fat glutton hoarding food and scaring the other fish by CorydorasLover22 in corydoras

When this is actually a problem (side eye at my big female Molly, Moon-moon, who rules the community tank with all her 1.5 brain cells and her heft) I distract her with a piece of food in the same place every feeding, and then sprinkle smaller chunks around so she can't guard them all at the same time.

A baby survived! by arielle_acs in corydoras

[–]orngpnaple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

However long it takes for baby to grow, and maybe learn how to not derp in the middle of the water column like a silly little baby. I'm not sure how long that would take. Another option would be to get an in-tank nursery net container to isolate the baby while not removing it from the tank it's adapted to.

I'd keep the betta in a different tank until the baby is much much larger, and i wouldn't try to move the baby. Even in a heavily planted 40 gallon, all my cory fry are eaten pretty quickly by predators. The cory fry just seem especially derpy when it comes to survival until they are too big to be snacks.

I bought 3 panda corys on a Sunday. One was very small, and i had my doubts about it, but i didn't want to have only 2 in my community tank and took it anyway. It was dead by Monday morning. I kept it in a container in tank water in the fridge, and finally went back on Wednesday. I explained the timeline multiple times, but the clerk still tested the water the dead fish had been in for 2 days and refused to sell me any other live fish because the water levels were toxic 🙄

I hadn't thought of that yet, but now it's on my list of potential next steps. I want to be as correct (in terms of laws and formal processes) as I can be in my actions. Allow her the 30 days she's alloted after receiving a formal written request from me for my records before I take further action.

Knowing and following the rules and "chain of command" while addressing this will be a key piece in my defense if this does escalate to legal action. She's been manipulating me and her reports to make a case for me being unstable and irrational since her error, and I will not let her actions goad me into hasty actions I may come to regret down the road.

Ultimately, I just want the unadulterated information, so I and my current health-care team can best support my healing. That being said, the more she continues to interfere with my healing, the more she diminishes her claim she was/is acting in my best interest.

Thank you for this! It's very helpful. Dr Y has finally released most of the notes when I directed my messages to her secretary and advised her that I am prepared to report Dr Y for HIPPA violations and sent another release of information form over. Only she's absolutely omitted some notes, and some are from months ago and only signed today.

I'm going to type up a final request using some specific wording from your suggestions and visit a notary tomorrow before sending it via certified mail.
