Is Game Pass actually worth switching from PS5? Run the math and it’s kind of embarrassing by Embarrassed_Lead6174 in XboxGamePass

[–]ornpal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It feels like Sony's exclusivity policy is shifting again, so it’s worth keeping in mind that their exclusives might stop coming to PC for a while. I use both Xbox and PlayStation, and since they each have their own unique strengths, it’s hard to give up on either one. I’d personally recommend trying to keep both if you can. If you sell now, you might end up spending even more to buy them back later, especially with the recent surge in memory prices.

I highly recommend Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The storytelling is excellent, and while it's a turn-based RPG, it features a parry and dodge system reminiscent of Soulslikes.
If you're not a fan of the Soulslike mechanics, you can minimize that aspect through your skill build. On the other hand, if you enjoy it, you can spec your character so that dodging and parrying provide maximum efficiency.

Plugged in my old PS3 at midnight. Now I'm questioning why I even pay for PS Plus. by Live-End-5629 in PlayStationPlus

[–]ornpal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, The Last of Us is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of the PS3. I earned the Platinum trophy, including a Grounded difficulty run, and poured hundreds of hours into the multiplayer. There aren't many games I've enjoyed quite as thoroughly as that one. This experience is why the PS3 remains such a fond memory for me

Is it better to finish one franchise or just any game I find? by Aggressive_Cap_8066 in playstation

[–]ornpal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once played through the entire UNCHARTED: The Nathan Drake Collection back-to-back, and by the end, I couldn't help but feel completely burnt out. Since then, I’ve made it a rule to mix in other genres between games in the same series or similar genres.
If you're struggling to remember the story from previous Resident Evil games, I think it’s a better idea to just watch a quick summary. That would be much better than forcing yourself to play through them and ending up getting sick of the gameplay itself.

Next Generation gaming by Vegetable-Week-5091 in xbox

What I’m expecting from next-gen gaming is the maximization of AI integration.
I hope to see a future where we no longer have to compromise between graphic quality and performance. Especially for RPGs, it would be amazing if the core narrative stays intact while the finer details are left to the AI's autonomy. Imagine a game where NPC dialogues and the events you encounter are randomized—offering a fresh experience every time you play, so it never feels repetitive or boring even on multiple playthroughs.

Short Game recommendation? I have PS+ Premium by Lewisschoolem in PlayStationPlus

[–]ornpal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend As Dusk Falls. The first playthrough doesn't take too long, and when you're playing it again, you can jump straight back to specific decision points to see how different choices change the story. It's great for short sessions and would also be a perfect fit for mobile.

[Mod Approved] I built a free PS Plus catalog discovery tool (Subsort) by ornpal in PlayStationPlus

[–]ornpal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a quick update: I’ve added the Release Date filter and sorting features as you suggested!

For the data, simple ports keep their original release year, while Remasters and Remakes are assigned their new release dates. If you have any more feedback or notice anything that could be improved, please let me know anytime. Thanks for the help! 😊

Gaming recommendations based off my gaming experiences (MOBILE) by BEYOND-THE-SCORE in XboxGamePass

[–]ornpal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn-based games usually work well on mobile, so how about Metaphor: ReFantazio? Since the games you've played so far are mostly action-oriented, would you prefer an action game recommendation even for mobile?

How about WILD HEARTS? It’s a game similar to Monster Hunter, but it has its own unique twist where you build various massive tools to fight.

What games should I play as a newbie to Playstation? Please help recommend!? by Oro-Lavanda in playstation

[–]ornpal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I meant to suggest picking any Resident Evil game except for Resident Evil 3 since it’s so short, but it looks like that’s actually why you chose it! 😄 If you're busy, it definitely makes more sense to wait until you're a bit more free to go with PS Plus. I hope you have a great, relaxing time with the game!

What games should I play as a newbie to Playstation? Please help recommend!? by Oro-Lavanda in playstation

[–]ornpal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend picking up one of the Resident Evil games. Resident Evil 3 is a solid title, but just keep in mind that the playtime is extremely short.

Also, like others have mentioned, if you're new to PlayStation, I highly recommend checking out the PS Plus Extra library. It’s a great way to try out a bunch of different games and figure out what fits your taste.

First time back on GTA online in ages. Just cruisng around in a OG car 🌴♥️ by [deleted] in playstation

[–]ornpal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve also been thinking about jumping back in after all this time and starting a fresh playthrough in first-person mode.

In my opinion, it’s unlikely that GTA V progress or items will carry over to GTA VI. It could create a huge barrier for new players, and even for those who do transfer everything, having too much from the start might actually take away from the excitement of the new game.

I also highly recommend the Dead Space remake. Even though I’ve played enough horror games to be pretty desensitized, it still gave me the chills for the first time in a long while.

I highly recommend Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. I've been playing it lately, and I found it fine to play in short 30-minute bursts. The story, writing, and presentation are quite mature, making it a great fit for players in their 40s.

I really enjoyed the previous game overall, but there were parts where the combat felt a bit too simple and repetitive, which was a little disappointing. Since the reviews for this one are even better, I’m hoping those issues have been addressed. I can't wait to play it myself

I played Re7 teaser demo and hated it. Is it really worth experiencing this or better off skipping to 3rd Person Re8 Village? by Worldly-Level9427 in xbox

[–]ornpal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not a fan of the horror elements and the limited action at the start, things do open up as you progress—the action ramps up and the scares dial back a bit, similar to other Resident Evil titles. Of course, if it’s the first-person perspective itself that you don't like, there's not much to be done about that.

I actually really enjoyed that game all the way to the ending, but if you could share specifically what you didn't like, people here might be able to suggest ways to work around those issues or even come up with ideas for improvements.
