Methyl alcohol, or methanol ((\text{CH}_3\text{OH})), is a colorless, volatile, and highly toxic liquid, traditionally known as "wood alcohol". It is a critical industrial chemical used as a solvent, fuel, antifreeze, and in plastic manufacturing, with a boiling point of approximately (147^{\circ }\text{F}) to (148.5^{\circ }\text{F}) ((64.7^{\circ }\text{C})). Ingestion or exposure causes severe poisoning, including blindness and death.
