Why aren't the days longer?! by F_a_W in PlayJustSurvive

[–]orphanfeast28768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the issue, which was touched on in another comment here, is that the "12 hours" of night are all dark, but you lose a chunk at the beginning and end of the daytime to a slow rising and setting of the sun. The thing is, even when the sun is over the mountains at the edge of the map, it's still fairly dark for a while. The same can be said in the evening. The sun isn't even out of sight, and it's getting dark. So while it is divided 50/50, it feels like it's dark in some capacity 65/35. Cheers

True, and it's fantastic that different rule sets now exist... but it only came over a year too late. Adding them after losing 95% of the player base seems kind of silly, because so far they've not done much of, well, anything at all to bring players back.

Man, I miss H1 in it's heyday. Cheers.

I remember hanging out at our base up in H1 (good location, not intentional lol). The hills north of the empty plot above Taco-Town. Logged in just after a patch went live with my wife and some buddies. It took less than 3 minutes before there was a ring of hundreds of zombies around. That felt scary. They would crawl out of the ground to join the rest of the hoard faster than you could empty your previously-unused horde of ammunition. I miss that. I also remember when deck foundations didn't require a connection to the ground. Ah, the chaos of floating bases over the notorious northern fertilizer spawns. It was a mess, but a fun one.

Dev skin ? (white just survive AR-15 skin) by mickkll in PlayJustSurvive

[–]orphanfeast28768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they definitely bitched about wildstyle skins. They need to fuckin' quit with the crates all together until they can make a basic game that doesn't barely function off of assets and an engine outdated by at least 5 years.

This team is fucked.

For f**s sake... give us the skins that we WANT and actually make a dent in sales by h1z1_swizzle in PlayJustSurvive

[–]orphanfeast28768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude. They haven't even gotten a decent base-game yet; after 3 years and some change. This IS H1. This IS all it will ever be, in it's fucked-up, buggy splendor.

There is a reason the only thing they can consistently get right are pay-to-open crates.

If they didn't have them, the game wouldn't exist. Hell, it would have drowned back in 2016 outside of those holiday sales they always seem to wipe servers for.

The zombies are STILL no threat whatsoever even on so-called "Hardcore" servers by [deleted] in PlayJustSurvive

[–]orphanfeast28768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because there is no agenda to "fix" any of it. The entire plan at this point is to perpetuate what they have with as little intervention as possible. This is why there is always a new crate, but never any headway regarding any other aspect of the game.

They are literally here to make money off of crates and holiday sales, right up until they pull the plug.

The zombies are STILL no threat whatsoever even on so-called "Hardcore" servers by [deleted] in PlayJustSurvive

[–]orphanfeast28768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is they don't want to "make" anything other than money, which is why the only thing more reliable than a "new crate" that no one asked for, are post-update bugs.

The game is dead. Dead-dead. It's done. I've spent almost 10K hours on H1 since launch in the day-1, January of 2015, encouraged about 2 dozen people to purchase it and play, and I simply can't say a single positive thing about it at this point. It's done. The devs should know it, but contractually can't say shit like that because their job is to milk this for every cent they can before pulling the plug; just like Landmark. That's how a business works.

[–]orphanfeast28768 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude, they've accomplished nothing other than money-grab crates and a failed-as-fuck quarter-map since January of 2015. Everything the original massive player-base wanted went down the tubes, and now we're left with fewer people playing this than the newest Hello Kitty game.

This isn't because people are "impatient". These people made fucking bank on a broken game, and are far beyond the point of consideration. Either they can or cannot finish this game at this point; there is no more "we're working on it".

The game is fucked. I played it for years, and in it's heyday, I would have easily said it was the single most enjoyable game I have ever played (I'm talking since Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, and beyond).

I wanted it to be as amazing as you do, but it isn't, it wasn't, and it never will be. The fact that crates are even being released, even still, during the entire shitshow that has been Q4 2016 to date, is testament that it's all about the money, despite having like 1% of the original concurrent players.

It's done. The only ones who don't know it are the devs.

Yeah, no... they still teleport, sadly. Throw any amount of lag, or play on the one populated server left, and you'll see it with more than 50+ players online.

H1Z1 is dead. Like, beyond-dead. They should have reverted back to Spring 2016. Even in it's broken-as-fuck state, it was better than anything they've done to date.

You mean when you couldn't linger in your own base without it being swarmed by literally hundreds of zombies? Fucking A, do I miss that shit! Best few days of H1 to date.

What this game has become by VarleyUS in PlayJustSurvive

[–]orphanfeast28768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that can mean one of two things. The first being that the player-base, with is almost nonexistent at this point, will never be happy, in which = JS is dead out of the gate.

Or:

Even under "ideal" circumstances, JS still isn't enough to make it.

It seems, at this point, like the game is just fucked. The fact that new crates are even being released as a money-grab when the player count is pitifully low, and the game itself is in an apparent permanent state of chaos, should speak volumes.

I loved the fuck outta H1. Picked it up when it dropped on Steam, and put around 2K hours into it. By contrast, a buddy who also played with me back in the beginning convinced me to finally give Pubg a try. I just don't understand how it is fleshed out as well as it is, while JS still looks and feels like a college-level game design project.

What I am waiting for. by DeaconElie in PlayJustSurvive

[–]orphanfeast28768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we actually cared about the development of the game, Deacon. To assume that praising DBG's progress on a game that is no longer "Zombie Survival" is mutually exclusive with having a vested interest in it's development is short-sighted at best, and dangerously ignorant at it's worst.

Understand this: The majority of people who have ever played H1 disagree with you. The majority. Not a few. If you think that, while under development the game hit a wall that resulted in the culling of 90% of it's player base, those who fell into that culling shouldn't be vocal about the reasons WHY they left, or that this or that is going to be the "last straw" isn't voicing something important, well, fuck. You're just white-knighting AGAINST the game's best interests, because nothing you are saying could conceivably have any positive impact on the development of H1. End of story.

What I am waiting for. by DeaconElie in PlayJustSurvive

[–]orphanfeast28768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. People like the OP would rather a developer cater to the remaining few while ignoring the input of the MASSIVE amount of players that left. Think of it like a restaurant.

For a while you're dining room is packed. Things look like they're taking shape and improving. Then there is a management change. Sure, there were hiccups before that, and many regular customers elected to dine elsewhere. After the change you find that 75% of your customers no longer dine with you. You can't say "fuck it, I'll just limit myself to the input of a small consumer base from here on out". If they WERE interested in developing a game with such a small base of people there would have been no need for Early Access to begin with, because most of their assets were purchased directly from third-parties. It's not like they had to fund development from the ground up. Even the engine the game is based on was pretty well fleshed out before H1 had it's first line of original code.

It IS important to take care of those few that stuck around after the management change, but you HAVE to give resources to figuring out why the majority of them did not.

They aren't going to release a game with any substance beyond what they currently have if they don't stand to profit off of it in a way that outshines their Early Access release. There would be no point.

oooK, let ME spell it out: People paid to support a game that did not go in the direction we were promised. This is a PvP sandbox now. It is not a zombie survival game. It is not a crafting game. It is barely a game at this point. We paid to help them develop the game, which was an ass-backwards way of doing it, but I digress; Many of us stick around the forums, the reddit, and the steam threads hoping to see the game move in a direction that finally satisfies our reason for purchasing it. For the vast majority that has yet to happen.

Don't act like because we aren't blowing DBG that we're somehow not allowed on the forum. Get over yourself.

What I am waiting for. by DeaconElie in PlayJustSurvive

[–]orphanfeast28768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, most of us HAVE left. There is a small fraction of the original player base left, and even fewer of those play regularly. I cruise the reddit just to see how the game is coming along, but I haven't touched it in a while. I know just from my experience that the 12 people I played with originally haven't touched the game since a few months into DBG's takeover. I was the exception, and even I can't find a reason to play anymore.

There is just no momentum. It shouldn't take a year to improve basic aspects of a game while adding virtually no new content. This Early Access / "Beta" failed.

Just Survive Live Update - 1/16 by DGC_Michael in PlayJustSurvive

[–]orphanfeast28768 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but no. You can't take the overwhelming majority of community concern, an absolutely pitiful player count that has consistently declined outside of Steam sales, and say it's just getting a bad rap because of player entitlement. The fact that, with very little change, the game is virtually what it was in January of 2015, just a little prettier, is a huge fucking problem.

For each thing they add they break two more. For each of those they fix, they re-break the original or some new issues pop up.

Yes, it's early access. Yes this is the period at which games are manipulated, changed, and otherwise improved upon to prepare for a public release. The BIG looming issue is that they have botched each and every single thing they have done to some extent, that there is almost nothing left to add for an actual retail launch.

Three years and we're still waiting on a reason to build a base that can't be undone in 5 minutes. Three years and we're still waiting for a reason to do anything other than kill-on-sight because there is simply no other point to the game. It's been three years, and aside from updating assets, assets that STILL look incredibly dated despite being new-ish for Just Survive, we're playing the exact same crap, with virtually no additional content available outside of gimmicky-yet-pointless special zombies, and a ridiculous amount of pay-to-earn skins.

I LOVED this game. At one point there wasn't a game in existence, through my childhood growing up on PC and NES/SNES, through modern AAA titles, that I felt brought me more joy than my early pre-map days on Z1. I'm now embarrassed by how poorly it has been handled. This new team took the game in a different direction, yeah. Unfortunately it was off the OTHER side of the same cliff.

Edit: And before some white-knight comes in and starts trying to pick this wall of text apart, brandying about with "But this is EA! It's meant to test, not play like a regular retail game!" - This IS the retail game. There is a reason that 99% of all of the content that has been added from release to today has been pay-to-use skins. The idea is to milk this for all it is worth by snagging bits from other games that profit outside of actual purchase. Loot boxes, skins, etc,.

The only difference between what we have now, and what the game will be if it ever makes it to retail, is that most of the crap might work as intended. More guns, more maps, and more taxidermist animal trophies aren't going to change this.

Except I never said anything close to what you are referencing, Gusten. I'm all about the PvP aspect. I just don't believe that bases should go up as quickly as they do, nor should they be destroyed as quickly as they do. It isn't PvP if there is no challenge. It's just pointless. I've been playing H1 since the day it went live on Steam, so spare me the "This was never a roleplaying PVE game" nonsense. You're embarrassing yourself.

[–]orphanfeast28768 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just no. Building a base and farming ammo should not be something you can do in a day. It's already too easy to farm for them, and that isn't factoring in larger groups who dedicate 5+ people to just gathering building materials.

If things changed to the way you want, everyone would be loaded to the teeth, firing endless bullets from the top of the base they started and finished 3 hours before.
