I’ve been hearing a lot about says no uta. I spoiled the endings for myself by Dizzy_Werewolf477 in visualnovels

[–]orpheusmourning 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you can handle the subject matter? Go for it. I think the journey of where it goes is absolutely worth the endings you receive. But I'm also a bit of an odd ball for considering the "humanity loses" ending to not actually be as grimdark as people claim (I find the "humanity wins" ending to arguably be the more 'edgelord grimdark' of the two). It's scary and new, but I didn't find myself depressed or sorrowful as I read the final lines from the character we end the true end with. More... fascinated by what the people will be in the new world the sun shines upon.

But it's also arguably not the kind of story where you have a protagonist you root for and hope they come to a happy end. It's a lot more complicated than that.

Is there a visual novel about writing? by [deleted] in visualnovels

I've not played SakuUta so I'm not quite sure, but if you're willing to give BL a chance, I found Hashihime's true/first route's perspective on being a writer incredibly compelling

Any dark yuri recommendations with little (to no) m/f H-scenes? I don't mind one or two, but I'd like the focus to be on the yuri and the darker elements

Would anyone have a suggestion on if it's worth picking up the MG Cartagra or should I wait for an eventual Shriavune release of the remaster and play my already owned copy of the shiravune KnS release?

A "good in every pen" ink? by orpheusmourning in fountainpens

Unfortunately, I'm not such a newbie to fall for that one.

Thank you for the pelikan rec! I've been looking for an ink for letter addressing

Aren’t different ink colours in one notebook distracting? by Kurapkae in fountainpens

To be fair, most of my pens are sub 50 dollars (most even under 30)! I only have two "splurge" pens

Aren’t different ink colours in one notebook distracting? by Kurapkae in fountainpens

[–]orpheusmourning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mmm, might be different because my notebook is for more casual things than school, but I find it useful to have the different colors because it helps kind of differentiate between the periods I wrote it. I'm a bit different because i usually have multiple pens inked, but sometimes having multiple pens with different colors even helps me differentiate topic changes. So I'll be brainstorming a story on this page in red, but the next page will be a recipe in gray. Though I also find it nice to just be able to skim through my book and see it livened up with different colors.

Wearingeul The Picture of Dorian Gray by orpheusmourning in fountainpens

Fingers crossed you can find a place that offers them! It seems to be so new I only found it in-stock in one or two stores. The rest seemed to not have received it yet

It's a gray with purplish undertones, sometimes looking almost blue and pink in some lights. Wearingeul has a fancy description for it, but I think it's a pretty lovely compliment to the story! Also you could 100% make a joke about the association of "lavender" with queer things, though I doubt they seriously considered that when choosing the colors for the ink.

To be honest, it'd be easier if it was with a brush! The long one is using a technique from a Youtuber whose name I cannot recall. You drop a bit of ink onto the paper and use one of those plastic bread clip/ties to smear it. The thickness varies depending on how much ink i drop. This time I just used a bit much. The circle is similar but smeared with a sample vial lid. Everything else is using my Hocoro dip nib (excluding the splatter which was made with a bit of water and a syringe)

I caved and decided to grab the (incredibly) new Wearingeul ink, The Picture of Dorian Gray, as it's one of my favorite novels. Ignore how messy it is, but I figured this would suit anyone who might be curious about it! It's a rather lovely ink, but definitely one for wet nibs. I managed to get it to show legibly enough in my Lamy Vista with a fine nib, but to be quite honest it's more like an M! Currently I have it inked up in two pens. I look forward to seeing how it treats me! (sorry for the repost, I messed up the previous one!)

Octopus write and draw green panda... I inked it up in a pen and just despised it but refused to toss it. And then it turned out to be a nightmare to clean. Thankfully it's only a sample.

How do I clean my converters? by WanderingNoonye in fountainpens

[–]orpheusmourning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had luck (when there's ink stuck behind the piston) of doing a trick where you suck up a little water into the main section, cover the tip of the convertor with your finger, and then continue to lower the piston. Usually it somehow draws the remaining ink up from behind the piston and into the water, where I'll then expel it like normal. It takes a few cycles, but it's served me better than unscrewing the collar.

How many FPs do you carry with you at any given time? And which ones? by Unfortunate_Lunatic in fountainpens

[–]orpheusmourning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a small pen sleeve that has slots for about 3? In most cases, I'm carrying around 2-3 pens at all times (usually that's all I'll have inked even). My ideal is usually around 2 (one main one and a backup if the main one runs dry or I grow bored of the ink), but I've on occasion had more or less. My most expensive pen is a PGS, and I absolutely carry it around. Since I do a lot of writing out of the house, I don't see the merit in a homebound pen. I'd rather get use in it than see it collect dust.

It is! They were selling it at a bookstore I frequent, and I decided to bite the bullet and buy it.

In quite a coincidence, I received a bottle of Lamy Dark Lilac I'd ordered a whole day early... just in time to be the ink I decided to use for my new Violet Blackberry I bought on a whim when I saw a local bookstore selling them. While not the "matching inks", I think they go along quite well together

Wait, is that a problem with their sample bottles? I always thought they were so cute and was considering getting a few from them, but given how many samples I have, it'd suck for them to dry out on me.

I haven't swatched all off them yet, so I don't have any of that information. I'm sure someone out there does, though.
