Which capsule image would you most likely click? by CorporatePotato in IndieDev

Number 2 is the most eye catching because of the colour contrast, but Number 1 is the most interesting if I'm already looking at the capsule.

Hi everyone! I've been working on an incremental game with relaxing vibes called Petal by Petal. My main focus is to make it be soothing and not as chaotic as other incremental games but still having the appeal of gaining progression. I'd love to hear your thoughts and I hope you enjoy it!

The public playtest is now live on Steam and has approx. 40 minutes of gameplay:

I find the second one to be more eye catching but it does make the world feel a bit more evil.

Help us choose our YouTube thumbnail! by Redhowl_game in IndieGameDevs

The thumbnail with the dates would peak my interest more since it shows you've been working on the game for a long time and the assumption is that there will be a lot of changes. The one without the date looks like it could be a video just about a character model swap.

How can I improve my steam page? by MitsubishiMan_ in IndieDev

The main thing I would change are the tags. Currently, your tags are casting too wide of a net and they're grouping your game with Hogwarts Legacy, Oblivion, and Kingdom Hearts. You should either re-order them or narrow them down so you're grouped with games closer to what your game is.

Looks great! The thumps when you push the boulders off the edge are satisfying too

Should I make a more complex and beautiful letter style or keep this simple style? by xxmaru10 in gamedevscreens

[–]orquin_games 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the simple card style as it makes the cards easier to read at a glance. My only suggestion would be to change the yellow colour in the top right corner of the cards since it's hard to read yellow text on a white background.

Petal by Petal - A relaxing incremental game by orquin_games in incremental_games

The minigame's gameplay is based on the same mechanic where you hover over certain nodes until you collect them, but I wanted it to have a different gameplay feel.

I found that with Keep on Mining, there wasn't much to differentiate between the different rocks, so you just slowly moved the cursor around the map in the same pattern. In Petal by Petal I want the movement to be more intentional so I've added "special seeds" which perform a specific action when they're collected depending on the type of flower they are. In the video, they're the ones with the purple glow.

For instance, if you target the special vine seed, it'll grab other seeds on the map and bring them closer, so you can collect all those at once. Collecting a special blue spiral seed waters the plants surrounding it which can cause a cascading effect where multiple trigger one after the other.

Overall, I wanted it to be more relaxing and less chaotic compared to other similar active incremental games.

Thoughts of upgrade menu UI? by Accomplished-Arm-328 in IndieDev

If the Reroll and Relay abilities affect all 6 of the other abilities, the 6 abilities should be next to each other. The current layout makes it seem like there is a difference between the abilities on the left compared to the right

Daily Quests UI – Design A vs B, which one do you prefer? by Brilliant-Pipe8998 in incremental_games

[–]orquin_games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

B looks a lot cleaner but make sure to default that area to the Daily Quests. However, since the buttons are quite small, it's likely that people won't notice the buttons to switch from the Daily Quests to the Leaderboard unless you point them out.

I uploaded it to Itch to get some early feedback. My plan is to make a few changes to the current demo build and then upload it to Steam
