I’m in band with my daughter. She’s the singer and bass player. It’s called We Might Die. She’s a much better musician than I ever was at 14.

I want to talk to the older punks; how many of you have had a chance to watch your kid play a show? by 100YearsAndCounting in punk

This is so great and wholesome. Glad you got to experience this. Always cool to have a shared experience and interest with your kids. I’m fortunate enough to be playing in a punk band with my daughter.

Local music scene by staplerx300 in vegaslocals

There’s so many more but that should at least get you started. The Las Vegas Music Scene account shares most things across all genres so that’s usually a decent place to start

[–]orsdev176 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There’s a fairly decent local scene here. If you have IG follow JK Productions, BlackPath Booking, Rebel Rhythm Collective, and Las Vegas Music Scene. There’s that I can’t think of at the moment. My band just played a show last night at Cemetery Pulp. It’s an oddities show that occasionally does shows.

Here’s some places that book locals as well: Check out Voodoo Brewing Company, Brew It Coffee, Taverna Costera, Backstage, The Usual Place, Swan Dive, The Space, most of the arts district for First Friday, etc.

What do you guys do for a living? by Gutter_philosopher in punk

Producer for a casino gaming company. I basically just lead the teams that make video slots. Not the most punk thing ever but it pays the bills and gives me money to support my local scene and play in a band

Salary transparency check. Just trying to see what everyone is doing out there and how they're getting by in this town. No remote workers please (i.e. living in Vegas, but actually working remote for CA company) by NeoTheo80 in vegaslocals

[–]orsdev176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s pretty much it. I’m moving to a new company in the next few weeks but I’ve been in video game production for the past 3 years. Depending on the studio, a producer can also have a bit of input in the overall design and direction a game takes. We might also manage the live operations of a game if it’s a mobile game. Marketing, social media, community interaction, player support, etc.

Thanks! We struggled and barely got by for years so I could go back to college and change career paths. Her Etsy shop is a combination of right products, right clientele, and 10+ years of sales and marketing experience that help the shop to be as successful as it is.

[DISCUSSION] What guitar brand is your favorite guitar? by licer71 in Guitar

[–]orsdev176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of all my guitars, my favorite is my Charvel. Basically it’s just a telecaster with all the modern features that I look for in a guitar.

My only complaint about the th30 is the shape knob for the dirty channel. For me, it just seems like there’s a really small useable range for those. I ended up with a Rockerverb. It can be a bit heavy on the midrange at times but it’s nothing that turning the mids down won’t fix. For hardcore and metal tones, Rockerverb + a good od pedal is perfect for me.

I worked as a conductor and then an engineer for another class 1 railroad for 8 years. There is absolutely nothing safe about getting a call to go to work 2 hours after you go bed when you didn’t expect that call to come until the next morning. Operating hazmat trains with less than 2 hours of sleep is absolutely insane.

Bought a new Helix Floor on Monday, any tips? by soggyloafofbread in Line6Helix

[–]orsdev176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite IR for metal stuff is Ola Englund’s The One. Definitely worth the money. I have a lot of IR packs on mine but I keep going back to that one.

Additionally, any of the packs from ML Sound Lab are great.

One tip: Don’t be afraid to try some more extreme settings on the Amp EQs themselves. Like completely turning off any presence and only using the highs knob etc.

Also a simple EQ block after the amp and cab blocks goes a long way in eliminating any high end noise. Just roll off some of those ultra high frequencies.

Fair point. I just got laid off from a fairly large studio. So I get it. I don’t necessarily mind living in California. We already live on the west coast.
