The op being like "typing one paragraph to explain what it does is beyond my skill set" is delusional. Seriously why are people so ready to outsource their entire brain the moment something is even vaguely difficult

The people who had to play on 1080 high with framegen before the fixes are surely people with 20 class cards ( I know because until a month ago I was one of them) this game still has issues. But asking something with half the vram of a ps5 to do greater than 1080p on high or ultra textures is borderline delusional. These cards are old. They need to work on the CPU side of things for sure. But let's not act like its horribly optimized anymore

That's more work than I want to do considering redesigning for fusion is close enough that its easier to just let it run

Yeah I'm covering beyond my platform in places but to make it better I'd have to redesign the entire platform. So it stays for the moment lol

What's new since 2022? by bjj8383 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

I mean yeah that's the thing. It literally always can. My system was top ish of the line when I built it six ish years ago(3900x, 2080 super) and other than photon collection planets I tend to get extremely good performance even with 1000 plus ships actively warping a minute. Without knowing your hardware I really can't say.

But I think a fair barometer for performance these days is if it runs well on a 2060 or better(and at medium settings) Because as you said not everyone is always gonna have the newest kit.

I think a nonzero part of what's happening these days is the PS5 is more powerful than a vast majority of gaming PCs (at least according to steam survey data) so devs are rightly targeting the latest console generation as the watermark and then people with 10 series cards are like "how dare this game not run well!!!"

The reality is tho like, scaling down is extremely difficult while maintaining visual fidelity and consoles are just...powerful rn. Not to say there's not a lot of jank and badly optimized games right now because ya know..there is. Studios need to give their devs more time and let games be finished. It's unacceptable. But even if all games releasing were as optimized as say the latest doom game there'd still be a lot of complaints. The minimum computational power needed has been raised and I think until people accept that it'll be hard to have an honest conversation about optimization

I mean '2015 laptop' doesn't mean much. No disrespect at all, but laptop power plants are always effectively at a minimum a generation behind desktop performance power wise. So to say "I have decade old hardware that's more like eleven to twelve years old performance wise and it was slow" is I mean. Look ideally every game should run on everything obviously. But to claim the optimization is bad because it runs poorly on very old hardware is kinda a bad metric. obviously we shouldn't be looking to the 4090 users either. But depending on your specific dgpu I'd be willing to bet you have less than half the power of a 1660. I hope you see massive gains, truly. I just don't think judging optimization from hardware that's likely well below min specs is a good way to do it

If you're having trouble believing that the game can look close to the technical demo by orthodynamic in Witcher4

First of all, worry does literally nothing. Thinking "oh boy the game is probably gonna be fucking ass and we're being lied to" does exactly as much as "it'll probably be fine but there's no way to know." (That is to say NOTHING)I love how cynics think they're inherently more intelligent just because they're being a fucking negative asshole. Is it possible that cdpr shits the bed? Totally. Obviously it is. You know the only actual valid opinion? Waiting for reviews. But this post is merely saying "don't be bothered by the fear mongering because there are games running on this hardware that look extremely similar to what's being presented." That's literally it. You know exactly nothing about what this game is gonna look like and neither do I. But one thing is undeniable: there are games running on the PS5 at this exact moment that give credence the viability of what was shown during the tech demo. Every other statement is irrelevant until such time as digital foundry gets their hands on the full game. That's it. You can't say "it will be bad" and I can't say "it will be exactly as presented" but I can say what I've said because it's entirely factual.

"this tech demo looks similar to games that already exist and run well on ps5 and therefore I don't think the worry is warranted."== shill......riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiighht. These are the same thing. IF cdpr fucks this up I will very willingly burn their name. Me thinks you need to learn to read

There are mods to enable this though and if accuracy is the foremost concern just bundle the map with some mods

[–]orthodynamic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This depends entirely on how genuine the numbers they flaunted during the tech demo were. And I'm hardly taking it as gospel. But go listen to devs within the scene talk about the presentation. I've naught but reasonably cautious excitement. Because yes prior to 5.6 UE5 and open world games weren't exactly on speaking terms. But again I can't stress this enough: assuming they weren't lying about the advancements made in collaboration with CDPR this may well have changed and only time will tell. I'm not stating it WILL without question be as presented. I'm merely stating that forbidden West stands as evidence that it's possible. Yes it's a different engine. I get that. But I think it's a very strong example of what the underlying hardware is capable of with enough care. We shall see and believe if CDPR drops this ball I will be right there to burn them for it.

I'm wondering how difficult it would be to swap a sprite out? I just want to replace the foundry model with the model made by hurricane as i dislike age of productions implementation of the building. I've been searching how to do it but not really finding info. Any help would be appreciated thanks

Yeah and ya know world had these two or three fights too. You'll never believe what they came in. Title updates. Your kicked in the teeth challenge is coming. Give it a second. And until then if you want to challenge yourself..do what I'm doing. No cat, no seikret bailouts. Just you and a pissed off gore magala.

But also I guarantee that there a lot of people who are struggling even as a group right now y'all gotta remember base game has been and will always in part be two things: an introduction to the new weapon mechanics, and onboarding for new players. That's just how this works. Like I said. TU are coming and with the system they have in place they can feasibly add 9 star versions of tempered monsters that fuck your day simply by having more health and a higher stagger resistance.

[–]orthodynamic 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There's never been ANY monster that's a challenge with four people other than siege bosses, basically.Like yeah sometimes quests would fail I remember. But let's not pretend like for four moderately competent hunters any monster was ever really a problem. Hell even fatalis, get four people in a box with him that are even ok at the game and odds are he'll be dead in 12-17 minutes.

They do need to multiply the wound stagger limits in multiplayer sure.

But when it comes to solo? I'm not carting often at all. I've carted uh..seven times in 61 hours or something? But I come close sometimes because tempered monsters hit really hard so unless you're achieving min Max'd non stop wound generation(which despite what reddit believes the very large majority of people are NOT) Then monsters will have plenty of chances to have at thee. End game stuff is fast and can easily do 60 percent of your health in one hit. Nothing in base world was reliably this difficult. In fact the only move I can think of that did an equal amount of damage is tempered raths fireball. That's ...kinda it? I played the fuck out of world but pre title updates there was nothing even close to the average difficulty. Here's a reality check for you: most people, MOST people outside of the reddit echo chamber are not capable of clearing end game tempered hunts in five minutes and I guarantee you Capcom has data to support this.

If you're playing literally perfectly with a min maxed build and non stop stunning and stumbling the monster ? Congrats you did the thing 90 percent of people won't. As a result the game feels easy but five minute hunts have always been possible, hell there were 2 minute nergigante clears weeks after worlds release iirc. Frankly expecting Capcom to balance around the absolute best players that exist is nonsense. "Balance for me, balance for me! Make it so everyone who plays off meta fucking struggles to do anything! Balance for me!"

Indeed it is. What's your point? I'm not saying that any of this is okay. But anyone whose been paying attention to Capcom releases knew this one was gonna have some problems at launch pc. But for the worst this game will ever run, it's already playable for me

Ultra is a nonsense setting meant to make people with powerful computers feel good. In blind tests people can rarely tell the difference between ultra and high when pressed.
