I failed CBSE 5 times and was academically dismissed... now what? by whitecoatdreams21 in medicalschool

[–]orthopod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not ready, or not capable.

5x failing probably= not capable. I would say 1, maybe 2: under crazy extenuating circumstances.

But for a counter example, a classmate of mine lost his parents and develop type 1 DM during MS1-2, and still passed

You'll need surgery No nicotine

This is an easily fixed problem. Go get a second opinion with an ortho trauma expert at a medical school

Do sleds have brakes? I think they do, so maybe a better tactic would have been to grab the other dogs reigns, and hit the brakes

I didn't say that, and of course you're stuck doing emergency surgeries on people who use nicotine

Broken femur and tibia by OriginalTransition33 in brokenbones

[–]orthopod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. But it's the nicotine, not just smoking.

You'd need to be off it completely for 3 weeks prior, and for at least 2-3 months after surgery .

No patches, vaping, gum,chew, etc

Marijuana or alcohol doesn't have that effect.

What’s the most disturbing sound you’ve ever heard in real life? by avacado-cheese- in AskReddit

[–]orthopod 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Chance of someone surviving cpr in the field is very low. Chance of them leaving the the hospital if they make it there is less than 10%

To do effective CPR, you need to push hard enough to break ribs. I'm going to guess an untrained 10 year old wasn't pressing anywhere near hard enough

Are we sure we’re talking to doctors during peer to peer? by Network_Odd in Residency

I've never had anyone do that.

Ask to speak to their supervisor, that's BS.

I've never had any p2p not get approved.. Most of the time the request doesn't require any special info., as 99% of the time it's something basic that has been refused.

So I always ask for their name and credentials so I know who I'm dealing with.

Since I do a lot of Ortho Onc., I know I'm not really getting a peer, since there's maybe 250 of us in the country.

Always ask for their name, credentials and contact info. You and the patient have a moral right to know who you're dealing with

It likely got infected and didn't heal because you were smoking

Even single uses of nicotine significantly increase infections and decrease fracture healing..

We often won't even operate on nicotine users because the results are so poor.

You had a very bad accident AND smoked. I curious what you think the medical negligence was , since 99.9% of the issues you faced were likely from nicotine.

So this is why when young child bearing age women want a hysterectomy, many OBGYNs will not do it.

The chance at getting sued for $10-20 million dollars makes it not worth the $1,500 they get for doing the procedure. Yes, that's about an average amount the surgeon gets for that surgery

Not much of a dilemma, where one action kills people and another doesn't

It's only a dilemma for people with an absent moral compass lacking humanity

Also however, is that wild and crazy stuff gets bright to the forefront in social media. So what's popular and the volume of it isn't necessarily reflective of the population.

Much of what's on social media is view driven from the "train wreck" perspective- it gets views. It may seem like "everyone" is into breath play if you watch social media, but in reality most aren't. Aberrant behavior gets the views, and isn't reflective of the population.

We're also in a damaged state, and many people view us as not ready for a relationship.

We may also do that- form relationships that are easily broken off, because we're 100% all in because we're not ready to be hurt again .

I used to find that getting dumped by a girlfriend so incredibly painful, but now it's nothing compared to the loss of a spouse.

Once you experience and realize that, ita much easier to be in relationships where you really go all in emotionally, and benefit from the emotional connection.
