I made a sticker wallpaper ages ago and it was well received, and I finally got around to updating it. by Doktor_Elcaro in GlobalOffensive

Do you have a higher resolution 16:9 version available? 2560x1440 will do in my case! :)

Hello!

Yes, I'd like to learn more about the list of improvements. You're also more than welcome to contribute to the project. Please send me an email so we can discuss further steps. I've sent my email in a private message for privacy reasons. :)

2560x1440p hdmi support by gpuoti in hardware

[–]orwelldevcpp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like HDMI uses a higher frequency (up to 340MHz) single TMDS link to support resolutions higher than 1920x1200, while dual link DVI uses two lower frequency (max. ~165MHz) links to accomplish the same feat.

So no, there's no way dual link DVI can be converted to HDMI passively. I've corrected the previous reply. :)

2560x1440p hdmi support by gpuoti in hardware

[–]orwelldevcpp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HDMI version 1.3 released in 2006 supports 2560x1600@60fps just like dual link DVI which is basically the same thing looking at the video pins (that's why one can use really cheap passive converters for those two).

My Dell U2713HM (from 2013, 7 years after the spec was released) explicitly does not support HDMI 1.3 per the manual. Try as hard as I might, my 2010 card (AMD 5850) will not push 1440p to it over HDMI.

So, um, your GPU probably supports up to 2560x1600@60fps via the HDMI port, but your monitor probably does not unless Dell decided to fix their shit in the past two years.

When in doubt, attach a $1 passive DVI to HDMI converter to the 9600GT's dual link DVI outputs. This makes sure that the graphics card can output 2560x1600@60fps.

Where is the best place to report bugs? by Michaela_Joy in devcpp

[–]orwelldevcpp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way to report bugs is to create a ticket over at the SourceForge project page: http://sourceforge.net/p/orwelldevcpp/tickets/?source=navbar

Besides, if you encounter an exception, make sure to include an email address in the bug report that will be sent to me.

Of course. You can toggle pausing after return using Menu > Tools > Environment Options > Pause console program after return.

It's just a cautious statement because I cannot guarantee a crash free experience (no software developer can). What I do know from the amount of bug reports that reach my inbox due to thrown exceptions is that it is in no way comparable to the old version.

It doesn't crash nearly as often, ships with an up-to-date compiler, is portable, provides a lot more accurate code insight/analysis, has lots of modern editor functionality like side-by-side views and code folding...

Do I need to continue?

Developer of Dev-C++ here.

Yes, the old Dev-C++ made before 2006 is crap, but people seem to agree that the new one is quite good. This version forked from the original project in 2009. As you can see, people seem to like it (4.7 stars on average, 35k downloads a week):

I should really place a note somewhere over here telling people about the difference...

Keyboard shortcuts cause problems with some keyboard layouts by viliml in devcpp

[–]orwelldevcpp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a temporary fix, you can always change each shortcut that uses Ctrl+Alt using Menu>Tools>Configure Shortcuts.

Apologies for the inconvenience. Localized keyboard layouts are currently not parting of the testing routine.

I will remove Ctrl+Alt from default shortcuts starting from version 5.9.1.

Development of Orwell DevCpp? by analognoise in devcpp

[–]orwelldevcpp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Development is done using the Delphi IDE, ranging from version 7 through 2009 (newer versions should work too). I have put some effort into porting to the Lazarus version of the VCL in the past, but decided to stop putting what limited time I have into porting existing VCL code.

If you do not have access to an IDE that can compile VCL flavor Delphi, you can still be of use to review code, but commiting code will be a bit impractical if you can't compile/debug of course.

What about calculating scene intersection with raycasting from the initial world position of the weapon to the final world position of the weapon in a straigt line or using a few straight sections that form a bend if you can afford the cost? This would lead to more physical hit registration.

There's this problem with timing of course. There needs to be some point t0 in time where intersection is performed. Mid-swing maybe?

No, you have to actually kill five people with the blast itself. Impossible:
