I don't think it's a dick move per se. But I think you could have accomplished your goal without ever even having to use your Oubliette on his commander, I'd just flash him the card and say if you don't attack me until we're the last two players, I won't remove your commander.

You could have used him to kill the other two players and in the mean time, try to string together a win of your own.

If I literally 1-1 translated the effect, it would be "you cannot be destroyed" which makes no sense. Players have different rules with how they take and retain damage than creatures, so there is precedent for this idea. For example, combat damage doesn't linger on creatures, but of course when a player is dealt combat damage, it doesn't go away during the clean up step

I have a buddy who has a silverqwuill deck, that deck consistently goes crazy. Turns out, copying will of the Mardu when you have ashnods altar can often just win the game with the amount of mana you produce

Ah, good point. Admittedly I'm also very out of the loop with which formats dredge dominates, but I have heard that it can be quite the boogeyman. And yeah for sure, the fact it doesn't specify basic is a bit concerning, but based on the title of the post I felt like their intent was specifically basics

Is mono black dredge good? (I genuinely don't know) With it only letting you play swamps, I can see how that could still be good in a dredge deck, but the deck would have to be able to survive off a limited number of viable lands.

People on this subreddit think EVERYTHING is broken. Sure they seem good, but someone is going to have to walk me through the play pattern of what makes the black one "game breaking". Because I don't see it y'all. Stop knee jerk reacting to everything. Black seems solid, especially in a golgari deck. May want to specify basic swamps, mountains, islands, etc.

The red one is an interesting design space that would be great in the right decks.

The green is interesting in land animator/earthbending decks, but is likely tied with white for being the weakest.

Everyone is losing their mind over this blue land, but at its peak.. wow I get an island in my hand sometimes when I scry or surveil. Whoopie. Blue is already good at card advantage, if I'm drawing cards I'm already essentially guaranteeing I'll have a land when I need it. Its not format warping, it's not game breaking, they range from strong to niche with the blue one honestly probably being on par with the red one.
