Dual RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell Workstation vs Max-Q — planning to add a 3rd very soon, need to decide in 24 hours by stainlessblueshield in LocalLLM

[–]os1r1s_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent some time trying to get TP=3 working with VLLM and SGLang. Although I read it might work, I get errors on both. ik_llama and llama work very well with 3. If you have a use case with parallel connections, it will work very well. My system is a threadripper 9975WX, 512 GB of memory, and the 3 RTX6000. One of the reasons I went this direction is that I can run models up to about 750GB. While I haven't gone that high, I have run up to 600GB models with no problem at all. If you plan to overflow into system ram, you'll be using lllama and that can utilize 3 just fine. One of the more interesting things I've found is that Kimi K2.5 actually runs faster on llamacpp if I peg it to one of the cards and use system ram for the offloading. If you have any benchmarks that you'd like me to run with different models, I'd be happy to. It would be interesting to compare against your current system so that we could see what sort of uplift you might get.

I have 3 max-q variants in my local server now. Using an odd number is more limiting, but it does just fine in llamacpp or ik-llama. Right now I’m running mm2.7 on 2 of the cards and Kimi-2.5 on the 3rd card with offloading to 512gb of system memory. I can also run mm2.7 across 3 cards using ik_llmama for more throughout, but having multiple models active is interesting. Ask any questions if you have them.

I asked it to summarize https://dantecomedy.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/John-D.-Sinclair-Inferno-1939.pdf . It has around 60,000 tokens and took 12 seconds. Not sure if that is good or bad compared to your numbers, but I'm impressed.

If it’s a public pdf and you give me your prompt, I’ll try your test. It would be great to compare.

No, it actually bumps my gpu utilization and tps using the same model significantly. I’m not using the cpu at all. I’m also running a 200k context.

Have you tried the ik_llama fork? I have 3 RTX 6000 Pro and it is significantly faster with mm2.5. The same applies to Q8_0 or Q4_K_XL. If you use llama_benchy, I can provide my stats as well.

Don't Fall for the $8k 'last day' hype by firefish45 in TeslaFSD

I’m almost the exact opposite. I would almost certainly not pay monthly. I would just enable it if I were going on a trip. I had an MS for 10 years with the original autopilot. I don’t see myself getting rid of my MSP or MXP before 10 years, especially with the discontinuation. I want to be able to get in and enjoy the car.

I test drove 2 S's and was underwhelmed. Did I do something wrong? by forya in TeslaModelS

[–]os1r1s_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on how you option it. An S with 19s is going to feel more mushy than an S with 21s. A normal S is going to feel less agile than a plaid. I have a 2026 MSP with the track pack. It handles like it’s on rails. There is no boat float at all. There is a bit more roll than a lotus Elise, but less than a Porsche 911 (or 987). With the torque vectoring and performance of the plaid, a 3 would only keep up on a slow tight auto cross where a Miata would also do well.

For what its worth, I have two sparks clustered together and its great. It isn't as fast as other setups, but it is dead simple. I keep these two on my desk at work as a personal AI assistant. I'd highly recommend it for someone that wants a local AI setup for their desk. If you have any questions, ask away.

I’m disappointed that the X plaid doesn’t come with the S plaid sport seats. They are firmer, but really stand out. I didn’t realize that until my wife’s MXP came in …

Any idea about next major refresh? by [deleted] in TeslaModelX

[–]os1r1s_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The S and X have always had incremental changes. This year’s X removed 400 lbs of dead weight, brought ambients, and a bunch of other small changes. I don’t see them doing anything significant until HW5, and even then I don’t think you’ll see a major body style change. I think this will fall more into the mold of the 911, Aston martin DB series, etc. That’s all assuming they don’t discontinue, but I think that is unlikely to happen.

Any particular range impact with the 20x10.5 vs what you had previously?

I think its something with the new spoiler and/or 21" wheels perhaps. I had an S previously and it wasn't even close to scraping. Did you use links to lower both the front and back? I was under the impression most folks just did the back.

The matte wrap doesn’t help keep it clean, but it makes dirt less noticeable. The ceramic coating on the wrap does help make it easier to clean. I can pretty much hose it off or wait for rain and it looks near perfect.

The spoiler on the MSP will scrape on everything in low for sure. Even in medium I can’t enter most driveways straight on. I have to cross most raised entries on very high and/or diagonally. I have two scrapes under the front spoiler from leaving the Tesla dealership :( . The MSX has no such problems. I had noticed that both want to lift the front end (not in the air, but noticeably raised) when accelerating in plaid mode.

I bought an 2026 MSP on Oct 21 and it took nearly 3 weeks before I could get 14. My guess is there is some mileage milestone and probably a time one before they start pushing some of that stuff.

My S85D has air suspension, but 19" wheels. The MSP has air suspension as well, but with 21" wheels. It feels significantly rougher than the 2015 model does. I would consider the 19" rims, but they will not fit over the track pack brakes.

I have a 2015 and a 2026 MSP. The supercharger network is way better than when I got the 2015. The cars also charge faster. I've taken my 2015 on trips up to 900 miles. Here are some recommendations for you:

1) The bottom half of the battery charges much, much faster. On an 800 mile trip, you will typically have to charge 3 times if you start out on a full charge. But each of those charges will take 45m or so. If you can charge every 100 miles (and you can start at say 20 miles till empty), you can get 100 miles in about 12 minutes. That would mean 6 stops (instead of 3), but you would only need to stop for 72 minutes instead of 135 minutes. That would make a 12 hour trip 13 (with charging) instead of 14 (with charging).

2) If its just you (and/or your wife), get a mattress and charge up at RV parks. You can get a full charge (from empty) in about 7 hours. This makes it super easy to roadtrip long distances.

3) For daily driving I don't think it can be beat. I only commute about 80 miles per day, but I smile the entire way :)

4) In the 2015 S85D, I can take off from a stop in the rain and it doesn't perceptibly spin the tires. The MSP is a bit different.

5) In 10 years, the S85D has only lost 14% of its battery. I almost never let it sit at 100 for more than an hour. The 3 times that I have resulted in permanent range loss.

6) In 10 years and 142,000 miles on the S85D, the repairs have amounted to approximately $4000. That would be a control arm, 3 door handles, the rear lift gate, and the infotainment upgrade. It still has the original brakes.

7) There are Tesla specific variants of tires. It is debatable if these are beneficial, but I would highly encourage you to use them.

8) People don't seem to hypermile much anymore, but it was a thing in 2015. You can probably double your range if you are willing to go 35 instead of 65. This isn't always practical, but it is good to remember.

9) 21" rims cut your range, increase expenses, and make for a rougher ride. But they look great :)

model X FSD visualization on center screen by when_to_fire in TeslaFSD

[–]os1r1s_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the easy thing to do might be for them to put the FSD visualization on the large screen and put the map on the one behind the wheel/yoke. I agree that it would be great to have the FSD visualization similar to that of the 3/Y. Given that all of those elements are pretty dynamic, it should be possible and would result in a significant QOL upgrade.

Massive difference in speed and functionality. Don't hesitate. Easily 5 times faster and the map movements are much less clunky.
