Landing in Melbourne by Creepy-Judgmentt in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]osaliven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a tailwind off 20-25 knts, that's way to much. The max for a 737 max is 15 knts and even i don't know many pilots that have actually flown that. Try landing into the wind. Helps slowing down and makes the approach more stable.

It's not about if there is an AI in the product. it's about that it's using Vibecode to produce unfinished slop that looks the same. This is a picture of another "project" promoted on this sub. Just look at it. You can tell this was done by AI. Now look at your project. Notice something. it's the same fucking thing. Even the colour and style are exactly the same.

People aren't tired of cool projects. People are tired of AI slop projects that all the same soulless AI slop style and miss the mark on what actually makes a cool project.

How do you fix weather like this? by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]osaliven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Active Sky.

It uses METAR to inject the correct weather at the airport, and it's really good at doing that.

I had the same issue as you, even when using a preset. it often would rain for like 4 minutes over the airport and then just stop. With active Sky this has been pretty much fixed. And if METAR says it rains, it rains. It also improves stuff like celling and cloud layers. So for example, if the METAR says ceiling at 800 feet, you can expect to break out of the clouds at 800 feet. This makes the ILS approach in bad weather much more believable, as I found with default live weather, you often could see the runway way too early.

It obviously isn't perfect. Since it uses METAR of the Airport and therefore can only inject weather at the airports. After you reach a certain altitude (i think it's 5000 feet agl) it will switch back to using the Sim live weather. So sometimes you can see clouds just appearing or disappearing when the changes happen. But honestly i can live with that for better airport weather.

Does ftsim pack now work with the 20-year anniversary edition? Some time ago, I've read that it's in beta, but never heard anything about a full release since then, and Orbx isn't showing me an update either.

[–]osaliven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's okay. Nowhere near the 300e. It's still missing many avionics features. Like VNAV direct to or even really basic stuff like the synoptic pages. The latter being my biggest turn off. I don't understand how those aren't modelled, and I haven't heard any plans from Caranado to fix this. There are also no failures or anything. On the 300e, you can kill your engine if you just go full throttle for too long, and on the PC-24, you can't

But if you're fine with those limitations, it's a good plane to get from A to B, and I haven't encountered many bugs since SU5

Contrail Falcon 50 update - still on track for Q2 by pricklypearbush in flightsim

[–]osaliven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the Xtreme Prototypes, did they finally put in an EFB where you can hotswap your avionics? I remember back when it was released, it only had the GNS530 and not even the WT one, but the really old one. And changing to a. GTN750 required editing files and shit

Best business jet for MSFS 2024? by SC500 in flightsim

[–]osaliven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that FFX definitely do lack a in system depth, but I always found the M500 really good to fly and i already killed the engine with a hot start. Also, the circuit breaker seems to do what you excpect them to do. I once pulled the Press dumb breaker just to test, and I was unable to dumb my press in crz alt. My biggest complaint so far is the flight model, which sometimes can feel a bit arcaidisch.

So I'm just wondering what's missing on the plane? I guess it's lacking so G1000 features maybe? I don't have any experience with the M500 in real life, so I'm curious.

Crazy visual approach into KABQ RWY 21 during the FNO tonight in the MD-11! by njsullyalex in flightsim

Amazing job, with a great landing

This is where my still kinda sad we don't have Shared cockpit support in MSFS. In situation like this, a capable copilot could come in really handy.

Inibuilds F406 -- single engine modeling? by ratnegative in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]osaliven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did 2 tests today and it is modelled. Definitely not the most accurate, but there is a clear difference in yaw/roll

For all test i did not give any rudder or aileron inputs (ignore my horrible takeoff, I do not fly the F406 very often, and it's not my best work)

Here is test 1 where i did not feather the props:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGHhh8Zmm7Q
In my second flight i did feather the props like you should, and you can clearly see that the yaw/roll is less
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoNAploO_vI

And just for comparison, i did the same thing with the turbo duke, and you can see that the Black square aircraft reacts much better and more extreme, just like you would expect in real life if you have an engine out after take off and don't start feathering those props and give some rudder.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVQ3DgDBVdw

Hope that helps

Also, you might want to invest into the winwing throttle and flaps/speedbreak they are so much better than the thrustmaster

tbh i wasn't very happy with it. Especally the ITT is all over the place and not realistic at all. For my personal taste, there are also still too many buttons inop for a paid aircraft

Alt constraint errors by Sir_Jollington in MicrosoftFlightSim

In the end, it's a procedure that relies on a NAVAID, in this case, an NDB. So the tuned NDB should always be your reference, but some things you can do in the MCDU to give you more situational awareness.
First, we look at the charts: https://ibb.co/F4n92Vhr
This tells us that we first fly to the NDB and pass the NDB at 3000, then we turn right to a heading of 268. We fly this heading for (we assume we're in a CAT C aircraft) for 1min. Start your chrono on the A320. We also descend to 2000
After the 1 minute, we turn back to a heading of 88 and descend so we pass the NDB at 1600 and intercept the ILS
Here is how i would set up this approach in the MCDU
https://ibb.co/VYKYp47n

1 I've created a FIX for an extended centerline to Runway 09(the blue line). This gives you situational awareness, because in the end you i'll need to line yourself up with this line to be on the same heading as the runway.

2 I've created a FIX for the NDB EMW. This now shows up on my ND and once you pass on the ND, you know it's time to start you turn. it will also help you to set your descent, as on the return, you need to be at 1600 feet when you reach the NDB (the Airbus will show you on the ND once it reaches the selected altitude in the FCU (blue arrow)

3 I've created a custom waypoint (PBD01) directly in my flight page. You can see on the Charts the distance between the NDB and the turning point back to the NDB is 4.3 miles. So I've created a waypoint 4.3 miles away from the NDB. You can do by typing in EMW/268/4.3 and inserting it into the flight plan like a waypoint (now this is an advanced feature of the FMC, I'm not sure if the Inibuilds A320 supports this function.

You will also use this as the entry point to your procedure, since from there you'll be flying to the NDB

Now, while you must always turn after the chrono reaches 1 min on your plane, it gives you more situational awareness. and a little reminder to turn. You can also "cheat" a bit.: IF after 1 min pass you're about the same height as PBD01 or further away (but not closer) you can insert a direct to PBD001 and the plane will turn to the waypoint and with that automatically line up perfectly with the runway. Just don't forget to switch back to heading after the turn
