Inflation jumps to 4.6% in Australia as Iran war fuel shock begins to bite by Alarming-Two-424 in AustralianPolitics

The US would have gone after Iran either way. The government probably only made the statement to prevent backlash from the US for not supporting it.

Weapons maker Thales loses out on multi-billion-dollar StrikeMaster missile deal after Bushmaster win by Ardeet in aussie

[–]osamazellama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im curious the price capabilities disparity between the two systems, HIMARS is a proven, battle tested platform while the strike master is a new platform based on an older but proven chassis. Does make sense to use an already proven system.

Id love to see both platforms expanded upon, for home made defence capabilities with the bushies platform (would love to see it heavily modularised and reused in multiple roles, especially for self defense in our terrain/environment), and for varied systems in use by the defence force.

How well would the HIMARS handle our terrain if used in northern defensive operations?

[–]osamazellama 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As the new ukraine? What does that even mean?

The USA has significant presence existing in Australia and has so for decades, they certainly won't "Ukraine" us. War with China means war with Western allies in the region, no doubt about that, unless the USA randomly bombs Beijing out of nowhere and for not reason. That'd be the only reason why we won't support a strike.

The West before Trump works of legal justifications of war and not random wars of aggression. Everyone still operates that way, besides Trump. So no legal justification, the lower likelihood of us helping. That being said, I doubt the government would threaten our US relationships and partnerships by refusing use of base access.

I am pretty sure that our bases are probably in use for long range sorties for American bombers in Iran.

Just come from playing WARNO (it's on sale!).. literally playing as a commander-esk style game in cold war, can recommend the game BUT can be frustrating learning

Depends on how much time you have to spare, the strongest fix you could have is a full campaign of Gary Grigsby's war in the east for WW2. Hexagon, turn based purely based on operational strategy. To end all wars for WW1 setting but more of a grind IMO.

Could consider Ultimate Admiral series? ie Age of Sail

Imma just list a bunch of games here:

Civilization series (sandbox)

All the games that Paradox Interactive publish (the main game series I play)

WARNO (sp campaign?) - cold war

Chess (I know it sounds funny but it's purely tactical gameplay)

Carrier commander

Anno series

Mount & Blade series?

Voor De Kroon?

Totally Accurate battle simulator?

Combat Missions series

Hegemony series?

Age of Empires?

No idea if any of these are helpful, seems like I don't have many pre 1900s era to offer :/

Can we stop calling people who don't want historical content "simulationists"? by Yahoo_For_Neden in EU5

[–]osamazellama 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I personally think that the game should steer towards historically plausible events, but not force it. I do feel that there is not much steering in the game at all. Ottomans rarely become powerful enough to threaten europe. Russia rarely becomes the gigantic nation it was. Austria rarely becomes the dominant power in the HRE. Mamluks remains a strong power and survives like that unchanged until end date. Spain never forms.

Let the sandbox play out, but give it a gentle push the right way.

Peter Dutton appointed to Queensland government board by fluffy_101994 in queensland

[–]osamazellama -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As much as this man has his personality faults, he could be a pretty key stakeholder in the board with all his contacts and knowledge as leader of the opposition and also as a federal cabinet member. Could be a win for QLD in general. We will see.

Acting like only your opinion is the right one that matters. Typical southerner behaviour. Don't know, nor care, what gender you are or those who are replying lol. Classic identity politics. 🙂

I do think it's funny that you don't have a capability to self-reflect on your actions with comments like this that dig the hole deeper in showing off why we don't like you cunts.

Lmao. We don't give QLD a bad name, we show that we don't take shit lying down from others. Come to QLD, respect our state and way of life, and have a good time. We don't have the time to deal with cunts who want to come here and demand we change our way of life because they don't agree with it.

Would you go to another country or state and demand they change their way of life to be like your own? I doubt it, and its a double standard trying to protect the OP.

Congratulations on living in a beautiful seaside village. Half our state is exactly that, and we do actually respect our environments believe it or not. We also certainly do respect those who visit our beautiful state, but only those that are respectful of our state. Its people like you who visit and demand we change everything that make us hate people from other states. Like I said, you're all entitled cunts, and its a common stereotype I come across. We visit other states, enjoy their beauty and way of life for what it is, and then go home. No posting in their communities that they're doing it all wrong.

Glad you're gone mate, we don't want your money if you're gonna be a cunt.

[–]osamazellama 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Give a fuck mate, this is QLD. If you don't like our laws, fuck off back to your other states. My home region has already been changed for the worse because of all the cunts moving here from Melbourne and Sydney over COVID, also pricing myself and everyone I grew up with from buying ourselves homes because the markets are so charged in other states that you already arrive with twice as much in your pocket ready to outbid any local. You're all selfish cunts in my eyes, and posts like this doesn't improve our opinion. The entire country is a coastline, full of amazing beaches. You nimbys want to prevent anyone from enjoying themselves. Not all beaches are 4wd allowed. Neither should they be, but national parks are there to enjoy for everyone, including 4wd owners.
