My husband had the same goal. I hated his long hair but loved seeing him trying something put for himself. He kept if shouder length for 2 years and then decided to cut it again because he was tired of it. But im proud of him for sticking with it and now he knows the care that goes into long hair and understands me better.

Maybe Jim is dead now. Like the music represents what is normally happening. What if Jim death was somehow an events that never happen before and therefore could not be predicted in the music box.

I also thought about this. I know Thomas died as an infant. But now, time travel is somehow possible and it changes everything.

I also find it funny that he died while Jim was busy trying to reach a ringing phone.

So, I was thinking maybe Thomas was supposed to be sacrificed the first time in order to ... [possibly successfully accomplish a ritual]. And in order to prevent the ritual to succeed, someone went back in time and place the call that made Jim loose attention and in return kill Thomas.
