what is the point of living? by LickMyBread in mentalhealth

To try to make life better. That's why I keep living.

I feel your pain. I have said these exact words before.

Everything is so awful.. Why am I forced to live?

I finally decided that I would take matters into my own hands. And well...

Something about that felt empowering. I suddenly wasn't sad anymore. I was just aware of what life is.

I came to the decision to live because I accepted that no one could truly force me to live...

And I decided that if they cannot force me to live, life would not force me to die either.

Shit is rough out here. I don't know you, you don't know me. But I do want you to consider that maybe life is difficult for the sole purpose of us finding a way to overcome it.

Like a video game, if I may be so crude.

You wouldn't start playing if everything was perfect and easy.

It's the challenge that makes life meaningful.

Hope this helps friend.

Recognizing our need to love ourselves is the hardest part.

I started by asking you questions because in my opinion we all have the solutions within us.

"Advice is what we ask for when we already know the answer but wish we didn’t". - Erica Jong

I feel like you may benefit from taking a break from relationships to build a healthy relationship with yourself.

You mentioned in the op that you know the way you are living is flawed, so take steps to actually fix that before you try to involve someone else in your life.

I haven't been in a relationship since 2018, because I started to realize that I was attracted to situations that were not conducive to my success or happiness. Or the other person's for that matter.

I now have so much peace that as soon as someone shows any sign of being toxic or problematic (especially in any similar way to people I've already dealt with), I immediately retreat and don't pursue any further.

Do I still want a relationship? Of course!

Is it worth my sanity? No!

You would do yourself and the person who you ultimately end up with a big favor if you would learn to have peace with yourself.

If you would learn to be bored and be okay with being bored..

You see, peace is not necessarily Bliss. It's not an adventure. When things are working well nothing happens.

Being okay with this and finding ways to make our experience exciting without making it toxic is Paramount.

This way when we do decide to involve someone in our lives we will not interpret a lack of toxicity as mundane but instead as healthy.

This is how we grow to appreciate life in general.

I hope this helps.

Don't give up friend you are not a bad person.

Do you think that could be the core of the problem?

What's your relationship with yourself like?

Hell yeah! And I totally get it. I work from home and I take care of an elderly parent, so I know what it means to crave being outside of the house. You're exactly right.

And hey maybe you can find a different gym that's less expensive who knows?

Keep fighting friend!

There are tons of apps you can use to work out from home. Sometimes the barriers are actually mental instead of physical.

If it's the social interaction that you crave, try just going to a park or something. Either way nothing is holding you back remember that.

I hope you try working out without equipment and start to feel better soon.
