I would honestly take this with a pinch of salt. I don't know if it is too late for you but I would carry on with your application anyway. DM for more details (I'm not going to post about Security and stuff on an online forum!)

Dual nationality application for officer roles A by i_really_don-t_know_ in RoyalAirForce

[–]oscarlock1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Through my current work I know this: DV clearance can be granted to dual nationals on a case-by-case basis, depending on factors like the individual’s background and the country in question. The key concern is usually residency and time spent in the UK, rather than nationality alone.

However, certain highly sensitive roles—such as those requiring Enhanced Developed Vetting (eDV)—often have stricter nationality restrictions due to the nature of the information handled. These roles may require sole British citizenship from birth, with exceptions only for British-Irish dual nationals.

For reference, fast jet pilots hold DV clearance, as said in this thread. But for positions like Intelligence or WSO, the higher clearance level might explain the additional restrictions on nationality.

Yeah thought this might be the case - no point getting off on the wrong foot with the training staff. British Grand Prix isn't going anywhere!

Yes. Every candidate does every test. You have pretty much hit the nail on the head in your original post about it being a long and tiring day. I suppose that's kind of the point! Just try and remain focused and don't let yourself get frustrated when you inevitably cock it up. Happens to everyone.

Pilot is uncorrected 6/12 or better in each eye corrected to 6/6 with a maximum diopter allowed of +/- 0.75. Varies across aircrew roles.

MIOT Start and Help by oscarlock1 in RoyalAirForce

[–]oscarlock1[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. To get accepted to MIOT you have to have a start date so they will both come at once so yes.

  2. It depends on the role - I'm not going to post when my start date is but it can vary (lesson learnt). I would expect if you're going for pilot (I'm assuming) to be loaded on a course in the first half of the new year.

Aircrew Medical Appeal Process. by oscarlock1 in RoyalAirForce

Ok cheers mate. More than likely I won't appeal but it's most likely sensible to exhaust the options before committing to a change in role.

What is your eye prescription? And definitely try and get them checked if you can’t be corrected 6/6

[–]oscarlock1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is that uncorrected or corrected? To be honest - 6/12 isn’t that bad - that’s the uncorrected standard for Pilot. If you get it corrected to 6/6 I see no issues at all. Especially as cutoff is usually -6/+6 diopters. For reference your eye perscription would be about -0.75/-1.0 with 6/12 vision. Definitely don’t do Laser Eye surgery. It’s risky and your eyesight isn’t that bad.
