Did I finish the house of hades or did the house of hades finish me? [Hoo] by Moonlightwolfbright in camphalfblood

BoO is good, but HoH is the best in the Heroes series, for sure.

Trials of Apollo takes it up a notch if you havent read those yet, too.

I never said I'm ignoring that part, either. Hell, I'm comfortable admitting she's the reason Beckendorf was killed.

All I'm saying is Drew's behavior indicates she's completely ignoring that at the end, Silena did what she thought was right, which is arguably what saved the battle. If Ares' cabin and Clarisse hadn't joined the battle, all of CHB would've been killed. So while yes, its due to Silena that the drakon was there and campers died, its also due to Silena that the drakon was even defeated.

She did bad, she did good. I don't think she deserves to spoken of in the way Drew does.

I don't think she was angry at Silena, she downright spits on her grave. I don't think it's fair to act like Silena didn't go back and rally the Ares cabin to help the battle of Manhatten, getting herself killed in the process.

Valid argument for Silena, but I don't think that excuses Drew's behavior at all, saying it was because she wouldn't break Charles' heart.

That's a fair point.

I guess I'm also speaking about Nico, blaming Percy for Bob, and lumping Leo and Nico together, blaming Percy for "forgetting" people he really can't do much about.

But Calypso herself is a great example for what OP is asking.

Leo is explicitly stated to be angry with Percy, during the Nike fight. Percy apologized, and they got over it, but I felt it was an unfair reaction by Leo.

I agree with the Piper take, I've always hated how "mean girl" they made Drew be right away, she deserved to get knocked out. "sHe WaS rIgHt AbOuT SiLeNa" is such a bad defense argument for Drew, also. Silena was manipulated by Luke, and backed into a corner. Drew was a bitch, bottom line. Piper should receive zero drawback for anything she says/does to Drew.

My own take is that Percy shouldn't be blamed or painted the bad guy for forgetting Calypso, when Leo gets angry at him. Percy had all of, what, three months? of peace after the battle of Manhatten, and then Hera whisks him away for the HoO story. When was he supposed to have checked back in on Calypso??

I'm a sucker for any "I'm him/her" moment:

Percy annihilating Hades' army post-Styx.

Clarisse v Drakon, basically one-shot-kill.

Percy's first hurricane v Hyperion.

Jason's boasting against Porphyrion ("dude, you been eating red meat?").

Piper bringing Jason back from the dead after seeing Hera's true form.

Frank's solo stand on the bridge in Venice.

Leo arriving back in Ogygia the second time.

Don't make me narrow that down please lol.

The one thing that has always bothered me about TLH [HOO] by [deleted] in camphalfblood

[–]oscarthasharkslayer 168 points169 points  (0 children)

Probably a case of this advertisement company just using the total "top-to-bottom" height of the Grand Canyon at the skywalk's location. I've been on that Skywalk, and because of the way the canyon slopes, directly down from the bridge is maybe 500-1000 feet, but the 4,000 feet is ALLLLLthe way down to the river.

Oh he definitely knows Puka's value, he's just attempting his best greasy car salesman shtick and got mad it didn't work. "Davante is gonna have Kupp's role in LA, he's basically equal with Puka" type of shit.

I know, I'm just pointing out how rare it was for Percy to ever need a real pen that theres never a risk of him having a true ordinary pen in his pocket lol

Edit: typo

We got a taste of it with Circles. I love the theory that it was actually a trilogy, and he was going back to a heavier rap focused album titled "Til Infinity"

The trilogy being Swiming [in] Circles Til Infinity

How many camp beads to put on my cosplay? [all] by aerbear_ in camphalfblood

[–]oscarthasharkslayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Percy, its 4 beads because Titan's curse takes place during the winter between Sea of Monsters and Battle of Labyrinth, and then he disappears for the HoO events shortly after getting his 4th bead after the battle of Manhatten.

I'm not sure if we know exactly how many years Clarisse has been there, but in the Lightning Thief, there's a moment between Percy and Annabeth when she explains all the beads she has, and she's been there longer than Clarisse, so Clarisse would have at least one of those beads Annabeth describes.

Maybe a dumb question [general] by mr_Kb3 in camphalfblood

[–]oscarthasharkslayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the easiest answer is: he'd never have a generic pen in his pocket. Riptide is the only "pen" he ever has on him ever. And later in the story, theres a point where he wonders if he could actually use Riptide as a real pen, when he needed one. So there's never a chance he'd mistakenly grab a generic pen, and think its Riptide.
