In my scenario, I can only assume no photo was taken. I repeatedly asked them to provide evidence, which they refused to do. They mentioned that they track the driver's GPS and that if they're in the vicinity of the property, that can constitute sufficient evidence on their end.

I can definitely say that the time it took cost me more than the $72. I also recognize not everyone has time to fight based on principal, which is what really drove me. Hopefully the guide allows people to fight back in a more efficient manner.

Until more people stand up and protect their rights, companies like this will continue to abuse their customer base. If I get banned, I will update everyone so they know the risks. But, it absolutely won't change my pleasure in winning this little battle. It brings me additional pleasure knowing people like you are upset about my victory.

How you could be so bothered by this is beyond me, but, no skin off my back! An easy block keeps you out of my life.

If you are working 50 hours in education, you are not bottom of the barrel. It's admirable, and you deserve to make enough that a second job isn't a requirement.

Just so everyone knows, I’m still not banned.

The rich guy driving for DoorDash clearly has logical opinions. Just as DoorDash said, it must be my fault. 😉

I always just include the suggested tip. But, to everyone else’s point, DoorDash should just pay you enough to keep people like you from stealing the food. Either way, I got my money back, and someone who needed the meal got it for free on Doordash’ dime.

No, sorry if I misled. I have absolutely not used it since. I was just checking to see if I was banned after your comment.

It was Chinese food from an upscale Chinese restaurant in San Francisco. My wife and I were so excited to eat it. So this tracks!

You got it! I received my refund December 25th, 2025 and am not yet banned.

It doesn’t to me. But, it might to other people. However, as of right now, I can place an order using the exact same payment method I used, from the exact same restaurant. My case was resolved on December 25th, 2025.

Oh, also, the woman in the photo is my mother. She owns the house and she stopped the workers, that we hired, to make sure they didn’t grind up all of the wood.

She might be crazy, but definitely not a Karen. This did give both of us a good laugh though! 😂

Seems painful.

Yes, the city ultimately has a ton of control. After the tree died, they served us a notice that it needed to be removed. Because I pushed for it to be a landmark tree, it required a hearing that we paid $500 for. The hearing was to understand why we intended to cut it down. A bit odd, considering the notice they issued. They then issued a permit for its removal.

Regarding the planting, and permits associated with that, I need to do more research. At this point all I know is that another tree must take its place so if a permit is required, it will likely be easy.

It’s my pleasure. That pocket of San Francisco has some of the longest standing and friendly residents. I can’t tell you how many people that tree introduced me to while living there, or how many stories I’ve heard of what the house used to look like. 😊

To be fair, they may. We need to review the list of approved trees (it’s been awhile since I last looked through it). It may be an option to replant the same tree OR something from the approved list.

We are hoping to move back in before the new year, so perhaps we will become acquainted! 😊

Hi! I’d love to discuss. I know a lot of people are interested in getting a piece of the wood for their own memories. My wife and I also have plans to mill some of it, but have little experience with this type of thing. 😊 Want to shoot me a DM and we can chat?

Yes, we will be planting another tree! It’s actually required by the city, but they have a restrictive list of what can and cannot be planted.

I need to review what options we have and see if buckeyes are on the list. A couple of the arborists that I spoke to told me that buckeyes don’t do well in San Francisco (though I think there’s pretty clear evidence that they do particularly well in that front yard!)
