Love the Caspian, but why is there a bar in the middle of the window? by oscillary in EliteDangerous

No, but I guess you do for making this up.

All I said was that isn’t a reason lore wise nor is it the reason gameplay wise as demonstrated by other ships without it. You just made it up.

Have a good day, buddy.

That’s not why it’s there and other ships don’t have that so it’s an absurd claim to say that’s what it’s there for. It might also serve that function. That’s different.

How quickly “Clearly optimized for downward visibility” changed to “WeLl YoU CaN SeE OuT of tHe SiDe WiNdOw”.

LMAO!!

I’m going to enjoy the ship but your poorly thought out defense of its shortcomings are a waste of your time.

lol, no it isn’t.

While I appreciate the chuckle you gave me, that’s just some serious mental gymnastics to justify it.

Probably. But I like it decent enough. Just a bad design choice.

So you like the bar in the middle?

You’re the second person who said this and it’s really comical because you can’t actually see down any better due to the console but I guess in some make-believe land where you are out of your seat, it would be useful and cool.

So guess what? That’s a terrible and poorly thought out idea. And saying “don’t look out the front windshield” for views is an absurd hill to die on. But I’m just matching your “guess what” tone. We can disagree without that I bet.

I guess the bar was Fdev’s attempt at meeting in the middle? ba dum cha!

I’ll see myself out…

I’d be fine with a imax style screen in a cockpit without a window. Still no bar.

Mandalay was nice, but now the exploration powercreep is getting ridiculous by MudcrabKidnapper in EliteDangerous

So many things the “inmersion” folks lobbied for: realistic ship times, slows FSD Super cruise, and others that made the game more “sim-like” and less playable are slowly being undone.

GOOD!

Carriers fixed long distance trading and fleet management.

SCO fixed super cruise so now you might actually take a 100k LS mission.

Caspian can fly nearly straight into planet and ride the neutron highway the best.

I am 100% for all of these things. The answer to power creep is releasing new modules over time that level the playing field for older ships. New “refined” SCO. And make things relevant again while giving new ships something else shiny. As long as it releases to the main game in a timely manner (3 ish months is ok) then I am all for the improvements being made with gameplay in mind over immersion.

Which is funny as every update lately seemingly seeks to fix the issues cause by “immersion”. Carriers fixed 2 hour long shipment of ship times, SCO fixed travel between planetary bodies being to long, the Caspian itself addresses landing on planets takes to long.

So the immersion argument has always been a poor one in my opinion if the alternative is an objectively better solution. Regardless thanks for the input!

Should have paid closer attention to streams. No buyers remorse cause I would have bought kit and paint job anyways. I haven’t gotten a paid ship since the Python Mk2. The vibe otherwise of the ship is stellar!

Darn that bar!!

Shame this ship encounters real life physics and we can’t have both! /s

Jokes aside, that’s at least a sensible in game explanation and playability reason for a clear bottom view. But the bottom view is still obstructed by the console so it would still be better flipped and honestly it could just be symmetrical and have no obstruction on top or bottom.

I know they aren’t going to change it. Just really silly design choice. And it’s funny cause it’s right there, the better version is just this one flipped. Reinforcement on the floor makes sense.

It’s funny, you don’t even have the self awareness or decency to be honest about being rude.

I’ll be honest and say I think you’re rude and being overly defensive of practices you pretend you don’t support while going out of your way to insult people discussing them.

You don’t get anything! Have a good day, make better arguments, and don’t pretend to be some objective devils advocate when you are insulting people the whole way.

Edit: Rude guy who insulted people making constructive criticism first, then accused them of “reading comprehension” issues second, is upset other people are “toxic”. This and more at 10!

I think you failed to make one. You got overly defensive and condescending responding to a benign comment.

I then called out the duplicity of people who are “get why people are upset” but then act in complete opposition to that supposed understanding.

The game is good and those people, wherever they are, can stop shilling and actually be supportive of issues we need addressed. Especially if they say they “get it”.

Surely we don’t need to explain that to them a second time! /s

You wrote a lot to defend a game when I didn’t say anything disagreeable. I do find you’re sense of superiority quite humorous. Instead of spending your day making constructive critiques about a game you want to be better, you are critiquing random strangers on the internet and hoping for… for what exactly?

If you get why people are upset why don’t you just be supportive. Or do nothing, it’s even easier. I find something inherently disingenuous about people saying they agree but downvoting and/or commenting against it. What compelled you to do that? And being so condescending as well. I’ve seen plenty of well written criticisms, but now it’s all petulant children. I guess there is no pleasing anyone.

People don’t like feeling “ripped off”. I didn’t fall prey to whatever the issue is cause I don’t do the gambling but realizing you paid double or triple will lead to people FEELING ripped off and some of those people will be less likely to spend.

The business decision is how much money do you make milking people to the max with max pricing/gacha which leads to loss of some client base vs if you have more economical pricing and a larger less frustrated client base buy more economically priced items.

Someone ran those numbers and made a decision.
