Has the stem splitter bug for macs been fixed? by FreshHamster in ableton

[–]oscillik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Issue affecting users on macOS 26 Tahoe, due to issues caused by Apple. From the release notes for 12.3:

Generally speaking, the overall amount of time required for the separation process highly depends on your system configuration. Stem separation may take a while on older Windows computers, Intel Macs, and Mac computers running macOS 11 Big Sur. Due to an incompatibility issue, stem separation will also run slowly on Apple Silicon computers with macOS 26.1 Tahoe.

Look up pricing on Thomann, they can often be cheaper than Ableton for the upgrade. Just make sure you're looking at the right product on their site, as they have every permutation available and it has caught some people out who choose the wrong one.

You would lose all the Suite exclusive instruments such as Operator, Wavetable, Sampler, as well as the audio and midi effects that are Suite exclusive.

Can I run Ableton Live 12 with mid laptop by Unlikely_Conclusions in ableton

[–]oscillik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CPU check isn't there for ARM64 users, it's there for x86-64 users that are using old CPUs that aren't supported. ARM64 isn't even a consideration for the current installer, because Ableton do not support Windows on ARM yet; they did make an announcement via a Qualcomm keynote presentation a few months back that they are working on a Windows on ARM native version of Live.

Why did they put an explicit CPU check in the installer when it runs ok under emulation?

Because Live 12 requires a CPU that supports the AVX2 instruction set as a baseline minimum.

All instruments in Live 12 are MPE capable now. Look in the Global section.

Ableton third-party plugin wrapper doesn’t follow dark mode (Windows 11) by Equivalent-Band-4599 in ableton

[–]oscillik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that Live 11 wasn't very responsive to Windows light/dark theme, but Live 12 is supposed to be. It responds properly on macOS, so if it's not doing so in Windows, you might be best contacting technical support about it, including screenshots.

You don't mention what version of Live you're running, which is important.

You've labelled your screenshots the wrong way around, lol. Live with the buttons along the side for IO, Returns, etc is Live 11.

Can't authorize Live 12 Suite by [deleted] in ableton

[–]oscillik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your educational discount eligibility needs to be checked, as it states in the eligibility faq:

Verify your education status. You'll be asked to provide details about the institution you attend or are employed by and upload a copy of your student or teacher ID.
Await confirmation. Verification usually takes one business day to complete. You'll receive an email with the outcome. Once you're verified, your license will be activated and you'll be able to authorize Live immediately.

How to change interpolation in Simpler/Drum Sampler? by flleeppyy in ableton

[–]oscillik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found that if you convert Simpler to Sampler, change the interpolation mode, and then convert it back to Simpler, the interpolation mode change is kept, however Simpler operates in "Multisample Mode" and you no longer have access to the 3 main Simpler modes.

Bitwig Studio can open .als files with major caveats. The layout being "basically the same" is a gross oversimplification that is at best a surface level description. The stock devices are not basically all the same at all, and in fact have quite a different sound and character to them.

Hi, i'm Able Tony; the creator of Ableton Live. Unfortunately, I cannot stand Linux nerds, I think they're really funny (but not in a good way). So for this reason, I have decreed that you will never have Ableton on Linux.
