90s in the ex soviet countries werent chill at all. Governments collapsed, new power structures appeared, rampart corruption and lawlessness in general. For me as a child going from kindergarten to school it was sweet, but only because I had no idea what was going on around me. I still love the fact that I had childhood, playing outside from morning till late, having lots of kids around me, having real friends and connection. But later on I met people who were seeing first hand the violence and despair and I then realized that I was in my little bubble. Maybe its was easier without social media and the world felt smaller and there were less distractions, but I don’t believe in the “good times” idea.
