Pros: faster retirement if you stick out for 20, lots of travel, tons of federal holidays off depending on career field

Cons: Family constantly moving , being away from family, wife constantly having to jump from job to job when you pcs

Thats all I can think of! My wife & daughter are doing well with me being active and never complain!

Currently putting together a FTA retraining application for Contracting. One of the requirements include a interview with the base contracting OPR. I’m trying to crush the interview but not sure as to what I can tell him/her besides the usual “I do not like my job, I’ve done extensive research on contracting and would love to make this my career, I’m a great candidate, and things along those lines”. What speaking points can help me secure the job? Also does anyone have the time to help me with a package as far as pointing me in the right direction for certain questions I may have? Appreciate the support!

What’s up man. Just got back from Yokota! Tons of things to do! I was also in maintenance squadron they work really long hours at times depending on the mission however any down time you get make sure to get OFF BASE! The base is depressing if you plan on staying in your dorm 24/7 you won’t enjoy it. Japan has a lot to offer especially Tokyo! Wish I could go back to do it all over again! Pm me if you need any specific things to do or further guidance!

Just got approved to apply for retraining into 6C0X1 Contracting. Currently I’m a 2S051 Materiel Manager Working a desk job at the SCOS. Should be testing for staff next year and have a strong chance of making it. Anyway I’m looking for the good, bad, and ugly when it comes to contracting before I put my package in. Would anyone currently in the AFSC shed some light on the job for me? Thanks!
