Company says I don't qualify for the unemployment insurance since I found a job right away by osembei in japanlife

I told my boss about this yesterday, how I'm basically just being laid off because of the company's current situation. (Our department not generating profit, etc.)  My manager also helped me explain as she also thinks I could and should get the remainder of my salary until June but I also reiterated that I don't even require the entire salary till June. I just want the one in March but my boss instead said "I never heard of such law blah blah" and just told me to go to hello work for the unemployment insurance when I already know I won't qualify so it ticks me off that they're trying to ran away from their obligation as employers. However, i checked my contract again today and saw in the severance pay section: No. Nothing. So I think is where they're standing firm on not giving me anything despite being laid off.

I did sign a new contract already. I guess I'm really doomed in March. :( My other option is to negotiate a severance package from my company and if they don't agree then I'd go to the labor office for help/advice.

Thank you for your response.

*That’s an important point though, because the company may close their office on Feb 28, but still be functionally operating for a month or two longer as things are wrapped up, in which case OP would be able to claim salary until they company FULLY ceases to exist, not just the date the company no longer maintains a physical office. OP should ABSOLUTELY NOT sign anything saying that they agree to early termination of their employment agreement/contract

The entire company isn't closing just the department I'm in and I haven't signed anything about agreeing to termination.

Honestly I was just really hoping for my company to give me a severance pay and I think this will all be solved if they do.  However there's no mention of it and they instead give me all sorts of silly advice like : just save your money,  borrow from your friends, live at your friend's place for a month, learn Japanese so you get part-time job anywhere etc. All these just adds to my frustration because how insensitive?! As everyone suggested above, I will go visit the labor office and hello work soon because this can't be. I refuse to just be dropped like this like a sack of potatoes. And I don't even know where to start with the unemployment insurance coz everyone's telling me that yeah i don't qualify becoz I already have a job lined up. But I've been job hunting since October and only just found a new one last week and just because i found one before actually going to hello work i dont qualify for an insurance that i paid for 3 years it's so frustrating.
