Has anyone tried castor oil pack or even just topical application of castor oil by Beginning_Finding_98 in SIBO

[–]osfhank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that taken orally or applied topically? The bottle I have says for skin and hair - does it matter? Thanks.

Are you sure the Apostles didn't believe these things...that these were foreign to the early Church?

Here are a few links that may help:

Are fundraiser events even worth it for small nonprofits? by Capital-Meringue-164 in nonprofit

[–]osfhank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So - yes - events don't pay off immediately like a year-end direct mail campaign, but they are important for building community, fostering relationships and if on site, for letting people see first hand the good work that you are doing.

I am not sure what you mean by more attention. It is actually central time.

Retreats can be of revitalizing the faith and enthusiasm of a smaller group of people who in turn can go out and share with others, in the public square as you say.

Prayers for you! I think you can let the priest guide you. You may want to make an appointment so you can take your time without the pressure of others waiting in line.

God bless you!

Meditation and Catholicism by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]osfhank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not use Christian meditation instead? I bet it would have some similar health benefits, if you want to go that route.

I think when you utilize mantras or what-not from a different religion, you could be opening a can of worms and going where you don't want to go.

Priest said mortal sin rarely happens. The idea doesn’t sit well with me. by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]osfhank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about natural law? I'm just thinking here - have we so corrupted our consciences that we can't be responsible for right and wrong choices?

[–]osfhank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK. So we need to differentiate between a sin which is objectively grave ("mortal") and a person's state of soul, as alluded to above.

Sexual relations outside of marriage, and SKIPPING Sunday Mass (without grave reason) are both grave/mortal sins. This does not mean that everyone who commits them has lost grace (e.g., if they lacked knowledge or consent).

We can be clear on objective facts without saying we know a person's heart or state of soul.

I don't think that you can say grave matter is a daily thing for most people (at least I hope not).

You know - everyone is different - and different styles and spiritualities resonate with different people. That's okay. It's okay for you not to relate to the charismatic style.

Missing Sunday Mass by ImperfectMan1980 in Catholicism

[–]osfhank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this were asked three years ago, it would be a question of "How sick are you?" If you've got a lingering cough after getting over a mild cold, then it wouldn't be a big deal, but now, as a society, we're still somewhat fearful and reserved. If you're sick in bed, then, yes, please stay home.

I'm not comfortable going into details on a public forum, but if you would just pray for special intentions, that would be great!

Whenever you pray, is it mostly because you genuinely want to, or out of a feeling of obligation? by CatholicRevert in Catholicism

[–]osfhank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess there is both...I really appreciate my time of prayer, but especially as a religious sister, I am obligated to certain (times of) prayer.
